Sister Faith Ruetten, Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration, 91, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at Villa St. Joseph, La Crosse.

Sister Faith was born to George and Mary Anna (Muehlenberg) Ruetten on April 12, 1916, in Sparta, Wis. She entered St. Rose Convent in 1932 and professed vows in 1937. Sister Faith ministered for 48 years as an elementary teacher in Iowa and Wisconsin. From 1985-1992, she worked in parish ministry in St. Lucas, Iowa. For the next eight years, Sister Faith volunteered at Villa St. Joseph until she retired at St. Rose Convent in 2000. She had lived at the Villa since 2001.

Sister Faith is survived by her Franciscan community; three brothers, Charles (Marie) Ruetten of Phoenix, Stephen (Ella) Ruetten of Sparta, Wis. and Anthony (Helen) Ruetten of Elm Mott, Texas; three sisters, Veronica Weibel of La Crosse, Rita (Herman) Baumgartner of Belleville, Wis., and Agnes (Charles) Burnham of Sparta; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, George; and three sisters, Catherine, Therese and Sophie.

The Rev. Tom O'Neill, chaplain at Viterbo University, La Crosse, celebrated the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 15 in Mary of the Angels Chapel. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, La Crosse.
