MONROE - Several road signs were damaged or pulled out of the ground Thursday evening or early Friday morning.
The signs were taken from County M and County Y; Greenbush and Balls Mill roads, Five Corner Road and County K; and County Y and Ridge Road.
The damage was reported between 6:30 and 10 a.m.
Directional signs and signs displaying road names were taken.
Green County Sheriff Randy Roderick said people can be fined between $30 and $300 for damaging, moving or obstructing a road sign. If a motorist or passenger in a vehicle are killed due to someone damaging a sign, the offender can be charged with a class H felony and could face up to six years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines, if convicted.
