Scott F. Schmidt, age 58, of rural Monroe, died on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at his home. He was born on December 10, 1957, in Monroe, the son of Roger and Marjorie (Patrick) Schmidt. Scott graduated from Monroe High School.

Scott and Mary Eisch were united in marriage on August 6, 1977 in Monroe. Scott was a beef, hog and crop farmer his entire life. He loved talking and helping people understand about agriculture.

When not farming Scott enjoyed; Green Bay Packers, concerts, Swiss food, being the Monroe area Santa, Pheasants Forever, Jeep rides and trips out west.

He was a strong advocate for the Monroe School District as a school board member for 15 years. Serving as President of the Board from 2006-2010. Active member of the Monroe FFA Alumni, and organized the FFA Alumni Toy Show.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, mother, Marjorie Schmidt (Sheldon Steiner); daughters, Michele (Michael) Marcangelo, Melisa (Brett) Zettle, Samantha (Jason) Stewart; grandchildren: Matthew Marcangelo and Jackson Stewart; brothers, Craig (Bobbie) Schmidt and Tim (Nancy) Schmidt and nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his father, Roger Schmidt.

A special thank you to Hoppy, Steve, Mike, Linda, Mark, and families for keeping our home and farm operating during this time. To Dr. Huie, Nurse Michelle and the entire Monroe Clinic Oncology Department for the care and guidance we received during Scott's nine and half years of courageously battling cancer.

A Celebration of Scott's Life will be Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Peppercorn Banquet and Catering, 1417 Mansion Dr. in Monroe.

A tribute of Scott's life will be held at 5:30 p.m.

In honor of Scott, please dress in jeans and boots.

Private burial will be at a later date.

A memorial fund is being established in Scott's memory.
