Ruth M. Legler, age 86, of South Wayne, died on Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Monroe Manor Nursing Home, after a short stay. She was born on June 13, 1925 in Monroe, the daughter of Walter F. and Elsie (Stuckey) Haldiman. She attended the Roosevelt and Round Grove country schools. Ruth and Clarence Legler were married on July 5, 1952 in Dubuque, Iowa. One of Ruth's favorite pastimes was following the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers sporting events. She especially loved caring for and spending time with her cats.

She is survived by her brothers, Fritz (Charlotte) Haldiman, and Roy Haldiman both of South Wayne; a sister, Nancy Davidson of Murrieta, CA; also several nieces and nephews; and special family friends, Bill and Judy Taylor and their children, Mike Taylor and Sandra Marshall. She is predeceased by her husband, Clarence in 1990; daughters, Joan in infancy and Jane Legler in 1985.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 12:00 P.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Cernek officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at noon at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to United Cerebral Palsy in Ruth's memory.
