Ruth Eva Stauffacher, age 100, of St. Clare Friedensheim, Monroe died on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born in Center Township near Footville, on June 8, 1912 to Herman and Hedwig (Leopold Stoldt) Selck.
After farming near Footville until 1924 the family moved to Monroe and Ruth graduated from Monroe High School in 1929. She then graduated from Madison General Hospital in 1932 with a Nursing Degree. After private nursing she was hired to help Dr. Gnagi and Schindler begin the Monroe Clinic. Ruth and Arthur H. Stauffacher were married in 1935 and they farmed near Monroe until 1962. She retired from nursing at the Monroe Clinic in 1977.
Ruth was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Bible Studies, Third Tuesday and Liberty Homemakers Club, several community and farm organizations.
She is survived by her sons, Ralph (Linda Grundahl) Stauffacher of Sun Prairie, Roger (Mary Ann Frautschy) Stauffacher of Monroe, grandchildren, Andrea (Dave) Byerley, Jeff (Christine) Stauffacher, Kristen (Dan) Novitch, of Merrill, WI; Kurt (Kristi) Stauffacher, Sacramento, CA; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Stauffacher, Jacob Novitch, Caleb Novitch and Madeline Stauffacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur in April of 1994, brothers, Alva and Rodney Selck, sisters, Lucille Beckman, Dorothy Wagner and Vera Haberman.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Monroe Bible Church 2613 - 8th Ave., with Pastor Dan Krahenbuhl officiating.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. until time of service at the church. A memorial fund is being established in Ruth's memory.
