Russell Wayne Severson, age 91 of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, with his daughter Julie by his side. Russell was born on May 29, 1923 in Green County, the son of Ray and Clara Severson. He was a lifelong Monroe area resident.
Russell and Helen Keegan were united in marriage on November 7, 1942. Helen preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 2004.
They farmed for many years before moving into Monroe. Russell worked at several places, including, Farm-n-Fleet, Swiss Colony and Monroe City Hall until retiring. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge. Russell enjoyed time spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving is his daughter, Julie (Anthony) Jones: their children: Kiera Severson and Deondre Blair of Madison; daughter-in-law, Donna (Jim) Pence of Portage; their children: Tiffany (Michael) Chatman of Reedsburg and Dylan (Kayla) Severson of Columbus; also six great grandchildren: LeRontae, Courtavien, Hope, Dezmen, Dawson and Briella. Sisters: Eleanor Klemm, Darlyne Campbell and Joyce Smith; Sister-in-law, Leona Kubly, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; son, Ronald; brother, Lorell, and sister, Cleo.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home.
