Roy Emmanuel Hess, 86, of Peoria, Arizona (formerly of Monroe), died Thursday, April 18th.
He was born to the late Emmanuel and Martha Hess, October 28, 1926, in Monticello, WI. He married the late Lucille Holcomb on April 29, 1949 at Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello, WI. The couple farmed in Monticello on the home farm before relocating to Monroe in 1980. Lucy passed away February of 1986. He then moved to Arizona in 1997. He married Ona Jean (Wade) Hess on December 28, 2000 in Arizona.
Roy was a dairy farmer from 1949 to 1980; then worked at Ace Hardware for 5 years and then worked as a janitor at Monroe High School where he retired in 1995. He enjoyed going to Toy Shows around the area.
Roy was an active member of Washington Reformation Church and Moose Lodge. He loved to travel.
Roy is survived by his wife Ona Jean, Peoria AZ, children LaVonne (Dennis) Cleaveland and Wayne (Monda) Hess both of Monroe; brother Otto in Mission Viego, CA; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his parents, his first wife - Lucille in 1986 and daughters Linda in 1970 and Arlene in 2009.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Washington Reformation Church in Monticello, WI with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Burial will take place in Washington Reformation Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established.
