Rosetta (Rosie) M. Mayer 89 of Orangeville, IL passed away peacefully Wednesday November 8, 2017 at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home. She was born on April 5, 1928 to Adolf and Florence (Wire) Baertschi. She married Gerald Mayer on December 8, 1944. They had 10 children. They farmed in the area for many years before moving to Monticello in 1965. She worked as a food server and cook until 1978 when she moved to Darien, WI to manage a gas and convenient store for 5 years. She then came back to Monroe to open her own restaurant Rose's Café, then Huckleberry Inn in Orangeville, IL. After retiring she enjoyed gardening and making many quilts for family and friends. Her quilts have made it to many states. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by children; Sharon Andrews (Jim Briggs) Orangeville, IL, Kristine Squire Oshkosh, WI., Rebecca (Becky) Neuenschwander Orangeville, IL, Diane (Dewey) Curran Adams, WI, Melanie Drake Monroe, WI, Timothy (Stacey) Mayer Brodhead, Wi., Michelle (Shelly) (Jim) Stauffacher Albany, WI, Daughter-in-law; Ann Mayer Platteville, WI, Son-in-law; Gordon Gempeler Monroe, Wi, Brother Raymond of Florida, Sister-in-law Virginia Mayer Monroe, WI, 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 41 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Jacquelyn Lynn, son Edward Mayer, daughter Marsha Gempeler, brothers Donald and Duane and son-in-law Paul Squire.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday November 13, 2017 from 3:00 till 7:00 PM at the Cramer-Leamon Funeral Home in Orangeville. Snacks will be provided.
Cremation Rites have been accorded per Rosie's wishes.
A memorial has been established in her name for the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home.
