Rosemary F. Healy, age 90, of Monroe, died peacefully Friday, February 21, 2014 at Monroe Clinic Hospital with family by her side. She was born on November 8, 1923 in Washington, Indiana; the daughter of Alton and Frances (Harbin) Showalter. Rosemary graduated from Barr Township High School in Montgomery, Indiana and then graduated from Indiana Business College in Muncie, Indiana. Rosemary married James L. Healy, the love of her life, on July 9, 1943 at Camp Elliott, San Diego, California. After WWII they moved to Kokomo, Indiana where they lived for 65 years until moving to Monroe in 2012 to live with their son, James. Rosemary was a very loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a lifelong member of the Courtland Avenue Friends Church in Kokomo, Indiana where she served on the board of directors and participated in many clubs and organizations. Rosemary was a wonderful cook and also enjoyed reading, quilting, crocheting, and sewing. She enjoyed collecting antique furniture and glassware and could often be found at local garage sales and estate auctions. After her family was grown she spent several years working as a bookkeeper for the Kokomo Government Housing Corp. In retirement, Rosemary and Jim enjoyed traveling to South Padre Island, TX during the winter months.
She is survived by her devoted husband, James of Monroe; 4 sons: Stephen (Sandi) of Bozeman, MT Rodney (Terry) of Kingsport, TN, James (Maryann) of Monroe and Kim (Terri) of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Cheryl Jones of London, England; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
