Rose Marie Schafer, 87, of Reinbeck, Iowa, formerly of Monroe, WI, and McConnell, Il, died in Reinbeck on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016 after suffering a stroke. Rose was born January 16, 1929 in Monroe WI ,the daughter of Alfred and Lillian Buhlmann. She lived mostly in the Juda WI area but graduated high school from Freeport. She married Donald Schafer on June 6, 1948. She worked for Crum-Forster and Newell Company retiring in 1999.

Surviving are: her two sons, Ronald (Zona) Schafer of Monroe and his children, Travis (Lindsy) Schafer and Wade (DeLyn) Schafer, and Larry (Carolyn) Schafer of Monroe and his children Tiffany (Chad) Fickett and Toby Schafer; her daughter, Cherie (Alan) Eckhoff of Reinbeck, Iowa and her children, Jessica (Justin) Miller and Jacob (Dayna) Eckhoff; her brother, Harry Buhlmann of Monroe and family; sister Betty (Dick) Randolph of Maryville, TN and family. Also surviving are 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, in 2005; sister Dorothy and brother Charlie.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 12:00pm at St. John's UCC in Monroe with Pastor Kathleen Rinear officiating. There will be a luncheon immediately after the service followed by the burial in Salem Lutheran Cemetery in McConnell, Illinois. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m until time of service at the church.
