Richard "Ricky" Dean Rude

Richard "Ricky" Dean Rude, age 80 of the Monroe Manor, formerly of Blanchardville, died on Tuesday evening, July 25, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Madison. He was born on March 10, 1937 in Blanchardville to Peter & Alma (Torkelson) Rude. He attended the Everson rural school near Blanchardville, and then attended the Blanchardville grade and high school, graduating in 1957. He farmed for three years, and then enlisted in the US Army in 1960 and served in Korea. He was discharged in 1962 and went to Milwaukee where he worked in a cement plant. He then farmed for Shorty Holmes near Argyle, and then in 1964 started farming for Vernus Strommen, and later for Ron Strommen until he retired and moved to Monroe Manor in 2012. He loved playing cards and watching sports on TV.

Ricky is survived by one brother George (Sally) Rude of Council Bluffs, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and a good friend Linda Hanson who helped him in his later years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 7 siblings, Mary Jane Hanson, Sheldon Rude, Gordon Rude, Alice Chenous, Robert Rude, Marggie Kimbel and Avis Hagemann.

A visitation for Ricky Rude will be held on Friday evening, July 28, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Blanchard Hall on Main Street in Blanchardville. A funeral service will be held on Saturday morning, July 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Blanchard Hall. Rev. Daniel Bohlman will officiate. Burial with veteran's honors will be in the Yellowstone Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Blanchardville, followed by a funeral lunch back at Blanchard Hall.
