Retha M. Dix, 89, Marshfield, died on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Marshfield Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield with Deacon Ray Draeger officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Jim Cournoyer, Marilyn Bartelt, Donna Gilbertson, Wayne Monte, Daryle Wild, Sharon Cambell, and Darlene Dillon. The visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Rembs Funeral Home.

Retha was born on December 19, 1924 in Woodford, Lafayette County, Wisconsin to Gustave and Emma (Zillmer) Monte. She was raised on a family farm near Browntown, Green County, Wisconsin and attended the Watson School. She was united in marriage to Clifford D. Dix of Marshfield, on September 8, 1943 at St. Victor's Catholic Church in Monroe. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1993. After their marriage they lived in Monroe and Evansville, Wisconsin for 2 years before moving to Marshfield where they farmed until 1984 when they retired and built a home on Yellow River Road. Retha also did waitress work for many years in the Marshfield area. In 1998 she bought a home in Marshfield where she enjoyed living for 12 years.

Retha enjoyed many trips with her husband and friends. She enjoyed card playing, especially with her 3 card groups, gardening, flowers, cooking, and going to the casino. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church of Hewitt.

She is survived by her son, Ronald (Susan) Dix of Marshfield, 2 sisters, Ardelle (Donald) Sellnow and Irma Mayer, all of Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford in 1997, her parents, a brother, Virgil, and 2 sisters, Bernice Leck and Viola Buholzer.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at the Marshfield Care Center.

The family will designate a memorial in Retha's name at a later date.
