EVANSVILLE/BROOKLYN - Ray D. Trumpy, age 78, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Badger Prairie Health Care Center in Verona. He was born on January 10, 1931, the son of Jacob and Rosa (Zentner) Trumpy. Ray married Lois Bruny on January 26, 1952 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe, Wisconsin and she preceded him in death on May 24, 2003. Ray farmed all his life starting at home at a young age working for his father in the Albany area and then he purchased the Dunphy farm north of Evansville where he grew crops, milked cows and raised his family. He retired from farming in 1987 and went to work for the Delong Company as a driver until 1993. Ray enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and he loved to go square dancing with Lois. Ray and Lois liked to travel, taking trips to several places including Hawaii and Alaska. Ray's love in life was his grandchildren and he enjoyed playing games and cards with them when ever he had the chance.
He is survived by three sons, Michael (Jan) Trumpy of Evansville, Wayne Trumpy of Monroe, Jeffrey (Teresa) of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren, April (Roger) Hillestad, Elizabeth Trumpy, Alana Trumpy, Michael Trumpy, Holly Ard, Samantha Trumpy, Stacy Trumpy, Troy Wagner; four great-grandchildren, Mike, Mark, Kayla and Kelly; four sisters, Helen (Ralph) Freitag, Marion Karlen, Rose Mary Krupke, Lorna (Merlin) Boley; a brother, Floyd Trumpy; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Rosa Trumpy; an infant son, Paul; a nephew, John McGuire; four brothers, Norman Trumpy, Glenn Trumpy, Richard (Pat) Trumpy, LeRoy (Norma) Trumpy; sisters, Bertha, Florence (Oliver) Welton; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Karlen and Delbert Krupke; and sister-in-law, Elaine Trumpy.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday June 16, 2009 at Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello, Wisconsin with Reverend Larry Balleine officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Monticello. Friends may call on Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Ward Funeral Home in Evansville, Wisconsin.
