Randall Johnson, age 59, beloved for his booming voice, humor, and big heart, passed away on July 16th, 2008. Wherever he is now, we're sure he's still singing a Broadway tune and extolling the virtues of a life lived on fast food and cigarettes.
Survived by his wife, Cynthia, who will miss how he made her look good; his eldest daughter, Eirene, and husband Brian, whose children will miss feeding the ducks with him; and his youngest daughter, Tanya, who will miss everything about him. Additionally he adopted many young friends: Frank of London, Ruben of Germany, and Seth and Jennie of Japan. He will be missed by many including his brother, David, sister-in-law, Dorothy, nephew Jack, sister, Lucy and family, and those ruthlessly competitive golfers, Robb and Bear.
Randall attacked everything in life with passion and perfection. At age 30 he discovered one of his greatest joys in life when Mary Deininger dragged him to an audition for the "King and I" produced by the Monroe Theatre Guild. Thank you Mary! From there he graced many a stage in both Wisconsin and Tennessee. His favorite times were working with Ed Holmes and the guys in "A Soldier's Play" and performing with Bill Lutes and Martha Fisher in all of the Gilbert and Sullivan shows with the Savoyards in Madison, WI. He admired the talent of so many of the people he worked with.
We thank Lu Rosa for giving him these last 20 years.
A celebration of his life will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, at Baumgartner's on the Square in Monroe, WI. Bring your favorite stories and all your fond memories. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Monroe Arts Center, P.O. Box 472, Monroe, WI 53566.
Happy is the man who makes a beautiful voyage of his life. We are so grateful and so lucky that on part of his voyage he found a port that allowed him to be a part of our lives. We are better for having known him. Long live the King.
