NEW GLARUS, WI - Ralph Herman Freitag, age 92, of New Glarus passed away on Friday, July 01, 2011 at the New Glarus Home. He was born on October 26, 1918 in the Town of New Glarus to his parents Henry H. and Margaret M. (Moser) Freitag. Ralph attended the Meadow Valley School and New Glarus High School. On February 17, 1941 he was united in marriage to Helen Rose Trumpy at the Swiss United Church of Christ Parsonage by Rev. Richard Rettig. Ralph farmed the family farm for 70 years first with his parents and later with his son Kenneth. He was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus and was the oldest Kilby member present at Swiss Church on Kilby Sunday, the Eagles Club, Watershed, and also served on the Meadow Valley School Board.

Ralph is survived by his wife Helen R. Freitag of New Glarus, WI, sons Robert Ralph Freitag of New Glarus, WI and Kenneth Allan (Rebecca) Freitag of Barneveld, WI; daughter Karen Ruth Clinger of Paoli, WI; grandchildren Tammy (Bernard White) Clinger of Saginaw, MI, Susan (Mark) Nyhus of Verona, WI, Brian (Carrie Winebarger) Clinger of Jonesburg, MO, Bradley (Rachel) Freitag of Sauk City, WI, Kristine (Duane) Lee of Lloyd, WI, Stacey (Dennis) Novy of Wonewoc, WI, and Craig Freitag of Randolph, WI; eight great-grandchildren Ryan, Renee, Randy, Mark, Shea, Ryan, Taylor, and Clayton; two great-great-grandchildren Cadence and Wesley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and a son-in-law Clyde Clinger.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 5th Avenue, New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Craig Jan-McMahon officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Avenue, New Glarus, WI.
