MONROE - On Wednesday, June 5:
Cody W. Johnson, 22, Monroe, was arrested on a probation hold after he called for an ambulance at 3:49 p.m. at the Laundromat by Lucky 7, 710 21st St., for a friend who was in distress from a suspected heroin overdose. The friend, a 22-year-old Monroe man, was taken to Monroe Clinic for treatment. Johnson admitted to alcohol or drug use that would be in violation of his probation conditions. Officers confirmed this with Johnson's probation agent. Johnson was jailed.
A wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle at 12:06 a.m. in the 500 block of 26th Avenue. The caller suspected a family member or passengers who had used the vehicle.
A property owner warned at 7:21 a.m. for not mowing a lawn in the 1300 block of 28th Avenue had mowed the lawn by the next morning.
Citations for truancy from Monroe High School were issued at 8:18 a.m. to a 16-year-old Monroe girl (first offense), a 15-year-old Monroe girl (first offense) and a 16-year-old Monroe boy (second offense).
A property owner warned at 8:22 a.m. for not mowing a lawn in the 1000 block of 29th Avenue had mowed the lawn by the next morning.
A property owner in the 600 block of 20th Avenue was warned at 9:33 a.m. for an unmowed lawn and rubbish on the terrace.
A property owner in the 900 block of 10th Street was warned at 9:48 a.m. for an unmowed lawn.
An officer on patrol warned a property owner in the 500 block of 22nd Street at 11:10 a.m. for inoperable vehicles left on the lawn, tires piled up and overall property maintenance.
A woman flagged down an officer in the 400 block of West 8th Street at 1:16 p.m. to report being harassed by a male driver in the parking lot of Shopko.
A restraining order violation was reported at 1:59 p.m. in the 400 block of West 8th Street. The female petitioner told police the male respondent flipped her off as he drove past. This is the second time this has happened. Police referred the case to the district attorney for charging.
A man, 23, reported at 2:16 p.m. that he had been punched by another man, 34, in the course of a dispute in the 800 block of 19th Street. The alleged puncher was identified. The case remains under investigation.
More graffiti was sprayed by two young boys over the weekend - the word "ROYALZ" was discovered in an alleyway in the 1500 block of 11th Street. An officer had a talk with the boys, ages 11 and 14.
A male reported losing his wallet somewhere in Monroe at 5:05 p.m. If found, call dispatch at 608-329-2400.
A set of keys was found on the downtown Square at 6:03 p.m. The keys can be identified and claimed at the police station.
A 50-year-old woman in the 2400 block of 16th Street reported at 7:47 p.m. that a 51-year-old man was sending her unwanted text messages. The man has been cited twice before for sending her unwanted texts. The case was referred to the District Attorney for charging.
A caller at 8:17 p.m. reported a pitbull running at large in the area of 30th Street and 11th Avenue. An officer who responded did not locate the dog.
A resident in the 1500 block of 13th Avenue called at 8:41 p.m. with a complaint about an ex-roommate who was pounding on the door. Police stood by while the ex-roommate collected her belongings from the residence. Police were again called to the same residence at 10:57 p.m. for a complaint that the ex-roommate was sending annoying texts to the resident. Possible charges are pending.
A gas drive-off of $32 was reported at 9:06 p.m. at Kwik Trip, 1019 9th St. An investigation revealed the offending vehicle had stolen license plates on it. Police are still investigating.
