Monroe Police

MONROE - Michael J. Korecz, 27, Monroe, was arrested on a domestic abuse-related charge of disorderly conduct after police were dispatched at 3:15 a.m. Friday, July 5, to the 1300 block of 16th Street. He was jailed and held on a cash bond.

On Thursday, July 4:

• Residents in the 2300 block of 14th Avenue were warned for setting off illegal fireworks after police responded to a complaint at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, July 4.

• A pager was lost somewhere in Twining Park during the fireworks display. If this or any other lost item is found, call dispatch at 608-329-2400 or drop off at the police station.

On Friday, July 5:

• Two boys, ages 15 and 17, were warned for being out after curfew at 1:10 a.m. in the area of 17th Street and 10th Avenue.

• Police responded to complaints of fireworks being set off at 1:20 a.m. in the 2000 block of Ridgeway Road and at 1:46 a.m. in the 2200 block of 15th Street, but located no one using fireworks.

• A light above a driveway in the 1500 block of 15th Avenue was reported at 8:06 a.m. as broken by a small projectile, possibly a BB gun or wrist rocket.

• A gas drive-off was reported at 12:52 p.m. at Stop-N-Go, 1019 9th St.

• The owner of a residential property in the 600 block of 22nd Avenue was warned at 3:44 p.m. to remove excess trash from around the residence. This is a second warning.

• A cellphone was reported lost at 8:02 p.m. in the 1000 block of 10th Avenue.

• Police warned people for setting off illegal fireworks in the 1600 block of 19th Street, after responding to a complaint at 10:36 p.m.

On Saturday, July 6:

• Residents in the 2100 block of 8th Avenue complained at 5:25 p.m. about a neighbor who plays his car stereo between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. Police talked with him about it, and he said he is moving anyway.

• A possible underage drinking party was reported at 10:02 p.m. in the 900 block of 25th Street. Police found no evidence of underage drinking but warned the partiers to turn down the music.

• The owner of a pickup truck parked in the 900 block of 11th Street reported at 11:29 p.m. that someone threw a watermelon at the windshield.

On Sunday, July 7:

• A mailbox in the 3000 block of 15th Street was reported damaged at 10:12 a.m.

• A caller at 10:10 a.m. reported a dog left unattended in a vehicle in a parking lot outside Farm and Fleet on 8th Street. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.

• A vehicle egging was reported at 2:47 p.m. in the 1500 block of 17th Avenue.

• Police were dispatched at 4:20 p.m. to a pedestrian vs. vehicle incident in the intersection of 16th Avenue and 10th Street. The driver, a 19-year-old Browntown man, reported that the pedestrian jumped up on his vehicle, causing damage. The pedestrian, a 38-year-old Monroe man, told police the driver hit him. The incident remains under investigation.

• A lost wallet was reported at 5:06 p.m. in the 1100 block of 15th Avenue.

• Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of 30th Street at 7:56 p.m. for a dispute between an ex-girlfriend and ex-boyfriend over property. The exes were advised the matter is civil, not criminal.



New Glarus Police

NEW GLARUS - John J.L. Williams, 18, New Glarus, and Donald D. Benton, 19, Madison, were cited for trespassing after police investigated a report at 1:33 p.m. Monday, July 1, of people trespassing the day before around 4 a.m. at New Glarus Elementary School. Williams and Benton allegedly used a ladder to get up on the school's roof.

• Krista P. Crawford, 31, Madison, was cited for speeding in the 1200 block of Wisconsin 69 at 9:08 a.m. Tuesday, July 2.

• Spencer L. Slotten, 26, Monticello, was cited for unreasonable and imprudent speeding after police investigated a traffic complaint in the 700 block of 1st Street at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, July 4.

• Mika L. Funches, 42, Madison, was cited for driving with a suspended license and suspended vehicle registration after police stopped her in the 100 block of Industrial Drive at 6:40 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

• Bryce S. Whiting, 17, New Glarus, was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia at 11:52 p.m. Friday, July 5, after police discovered a pipe used for smoking marijuana.

• A civil dispute between two people over an automobile muffler was reported at 8:29 p.m. Monday, July 1.

• Several callers complained about illegal fireworks being set off in New Glarus on Thursday, July 4. As a result, police issued warnings at several addresses in the village.

• Charges for trespassing and disorderly conduct were forwarded to the District Attorney for review after police responded to a complaint of an unwanted female at a residence at 1:57 a.m. Friday, July 5. The involved parties were separated.

• The theft of two utility-type trailers from New Glarus Brewing was reported at 12:35 Saturday, July 6. The trailers and their contents (not beer) were taken without permission from the brewery sometime earlier that day, according to the preliminary investigation. The trailers were later recovered elsewhere in the county. A suspect has been identified. The incident is still under investigation.

• A 911 caller in the 500 block of 1st Street at 1:04 p.m. Saturday, July 6, reported it was getting too hot inside a vehicle he was sitting in. Officers were dispatched and talked with him. He exited the vehicle. Nothing further was needed.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - On Sunday, July 7:

• John M. Hiertz, 49, Brodhead, was cited for disorderly conduct after deputies responded at 10:11 a.m. to a report of road rage on Wis. 11 near Hartwig Road in Sylvester Township. Hartwig reportedly stopped his vehicle twice in the westbound lane of traffic, then confronted the driver behind him because he felt the driver had been tailgating and yelled obscenities at the other driver in front of a 6-year-old child.

• William R. Romanski, 20, Brodhead, was cited for driving with a suspended license, non-registration of a vehicle and driving after dark without headlights at 9:32 p.m. on Wis. 69 at Hefty Road in Washington Township.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - Victor Velasco Medel, 26, address unknown, was arrested by Grant County deputies on warrants issued by Lafayette County and transported at 8:52 p.m. Saturday, July 6, from Platteville to the Lafayette County Jail.

• Both drivers were cited and sustained injuries from a two-vehicle accident on Wis. 11 in Gratiot Township at 12:39 p.m. Thursday, July 4. Daniel R. Walzer, 36, Plainfield, Ill., was stopped at the intersection with County P when he proceeded north onto Wis. 23 and failed to yield to a westbound vehicle driven by Miguel Colorado, 39, South Wayne. Colorado and his passenger, Becky L. Colorado, 51, South Wayne, were taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County for non-life threatening injuries. Walzer and his passengers were also taken by ambulance to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles were towed. Miguel Colorado was cited for driving with a suspended license, and Walzer was cited for failure to yield right-of-way. The Darlington Fire Department, Shullsburg Fire Department, Rural Medical Ambulance and Shullsburg Ambulance assisted.

• William A. Foust, 23, Monroe, was cited for driving with a suspended license at 10:27 p.m. Thursday, July 4, on Wis. 81 in Argyle Township.

• Molly H. McMahon, 21, Mount Airy, Md., was cited for speeding on Wis. 11 in Benton Township at 8:06 a.m. Friday, July 5.

• Laurie M. Glass, 39, Moline, Ill., was cited for speeding on Wis. 81 in Lamont Township at 9:54 a.m. Friday, July 5.

• Ted J. Tuescher, 60, West Allis, was cited for speeding on Wis. 11 in Gratiot Township at 12:10 p.m. Friday, July 5.

• Dimas Estrade, 58, Mundelein, Ill., was cited for speeding on Wis. 23 in Darlington Township at 2:51 p.m. Friday, July 5.

• Kaleb T. Klar, 19, Platteville, was cited for speeding on U.S. 151 in Belmont Township at 11:28 a.m. Saturday, July 6.

• Kevin B. Zeller, 55, Shullsburg, was cited for driving with a suspended license on North Mound Avenue in Belmont at 1:04 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

• Timothy S. Wojtecki, 41, Carpentersville, Ill., was cited for speeding on Wis. 11 in Gratiot Township at 1:10 p.m. Sunday, July 7.

• Suzanne L. Snyder, 70, Janesville, was cited for speeding on Wis. 11 in Gratiot Township at 1:37 p.m. Sunday, July 7.

• Ellary S. Nemetz, 19, Janesville, was cited for speeding on Wis. 81 in Darlington Township at 7:23 p.m. Sunday, July 7.

• Illegal dumping was reported on West Church Road in Wiota Township at 4:35 p.m. Friday, July 5.

• A theft was reported on Roller Coaster Road in Darlington Township at 9:07 p.m. Friday, July 5.

• A dog nuisance complaint was reported on North Van Buren Street in Benton at 10:51 p.m. Friday, July 5.

• Criminal damage to a mailbox was reported on County O in White Oak Springs Township at 8:06 a.m. Saturday, July 6.

• A deputy responded to a residence on First Street in Argyle for a child custody dispute at 9:41 a.m. Saturday, July 6.

• A deputy took a report of a dispute between two neighbors on County O in White Oak Springs Township at 10:10 a.m. Saturday, July 6.

• A dog bite was reported at 2:01 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at a residence on County XX in Belmont Township. The vicim was treated at Southwest Health Center in Platteville.

• A fireworks violation was reported on Andrews Road in Wayne Township at 10:07 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

• A deputy checked the welfare of a person sleeping in a vehicle at a location on Miner Way in Shullsburg at 10:27 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

• A fireworks violation was reported on County XX in Belmont Township at 10:51 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

• The theft of one goat was reported at 8:40 a.m. Sunday, July 7, from a location on Wis. 23 in Darlington Township.
