Monroe Police

MONROE - On Tuesday, July 2:

• Bobby A. Marney, 33, Freeport, was arrested on two outstanding warrants issued by the Green County Sheriff's Department for possession of marijuana and driving while intoxicated, after police responded to a woman's complaint at 6:57 p.m. that Marney had climbed up her balcony and was banging on her window in the 300 block of 3rd Street. He was jailed.

• Police were called to a dispute between upstairs/downstairs tenants at 12:08 a.m. in the 1100 block of 25th Avenue.

• A prank call to McDonald's, 425 8th St., was reported at 12:12 a.m.

• An officer on patrol found a person sleeping in a parked vehicle in a business lot in the 400 block of 8th Street at 12:45 a.m. and told him to leave.

• A prowler was reported at 3:08 a.m. in the 2500 block of 10th Street. Residents reported hearing someone outside a window, then thought they saw a person running away.

• A warning notice was issued to a property owner in the 900 block of 23rd Street for having a large pool in the yard without a fence or locked gate, in violation of city code. An officer on patrol at 8:25 a.m. noticed the violation.

• Police followed up on a prior complaint about long grass in a vacant lot in the 700 block of 20th Street at 8:50 a.m. The owner was warned to mow it.

• A downspout and gutter elbow were reported crushed at 11:41 a.m. in the 1600 block of 22nd 1/2 Avenue.

• Police were called at 7:31 p.m. to a dispute over vehicle parking in an apartment complex lot in the 2200 block of 1st Street. No one was arrested or cited.

• A cellphone was reported lost at 8:06 p.m. in Recreation Park.

• Police were called at 8:27 p.m. to a dispute over personal property at an apartment complex in the 2200 block of 1st Street. Police stood by to keep the peace. No one was arrested or cited.

• An unruly patient at Monroe Clinic was reported at 8:50 p.m. The patient had been mostly calmed down by staff by the time police arrived.

• Police were called at 8:56 p.m. to a dispute between estranged spouses in the 700 block of 12th Avenue. The couple had been drinking. No injuries were reported. No one was cited or arrested. The husband was given a ride to Belleville.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - Kurt D. Duerst, 50, New Glarus, was arrested on charges of criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, making harassing phone calls and on two counts of resisting arrest following an investigation of harassment complaints in the New Glarus area Tuesday, July 2. Deputies were called at 8:44 a.m. to the W6000 block of Pioneer Road and at 9:22 a.m. to the W4700 block of Argue Road. Duerst was jailed.

• Glen A. Swedlund, 35, Monroe, was arrested at the sheriff's department at 11:15 a.m. on a warrant issued by the Department of Corrections. He was jailed.

• Paul Ramirez Castro, 25, Brodhead, was cited for driving with a revoked license and no vehicle insurance and for failure to notify police of an accident after deputies were dispatched at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, to investigate a deer vs. car crash on Mount Hope Road north of Spring Creek Road in Spring Grove Township. Investigation revealed the accident happened when Ramirez Castro was southbound on Mount Hope Road. After colliding with the deer, the car's hood flew open and he drove off the roadway and into a cornfield. He was uninjured. The vehicle was severely damaged and will be removed by a private party using a tractor.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Tuesday, July 2:

• Jeremy L. Hefty, 31, Benton, was taken into custody at 1:52 p.m. on a valid Lafayette County warrant for failure to pay a fine on a traffic citation. He posted the required bond and was released. Cuba City police assisted.

• Brandi L. Tiesman, 35, Albany, was cited for speeding at 10:21 a.m. on Wisconsin 23 in Shullsburg Township.

• Tim A. Harley, 65, Naperville, Ill., was cited for speeding at 12:56 p.m. on Wis. 23 in Darlington Township.

• At 12:15 p.m., a deputy helped a person who needed assistance after falling at a residence on County P in Monticello Township.

• A 16-year-old boy was reported as a runaway from a residence on Puddledock Road in Argyle Township at 3:15 p.m., after he left the home following a disagreement with a family member. He returned home several hours later on his own.

• Untended goats were reported at 5 p.m. for damaging cropland on Wis. 23 in Darlington Township.

• Loose cattle were reported at 9:23 p.m. for being in the roadway on County F in Blanchard Township and for causing damage to nearby cropland and to a neighbor's garden.
