Monroe Police

MONROE - Two Monroe men were arrested after police responded to a report of a verbal fight in progress in the 1100 block of 17th Avenue at 8:35 p.m. Monday, July 29. The argument allegedly started when Seancody L. Anderson, 18, yelled racial slurs at Terrill M. Starks, 35, and a woman with him. Starks then reportedly chased after Anderson. Starks was cited for disorderly conduct. Anderson was jailed on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and underage drinking.

On Friday, July 26:

• A boy's bicycle was reported stolen at 10:23 a.m. from a yard in the 700 block of 17th Avenue.

• A property owner in the 900 block of 8th Avenue was warned to mow and pull weeds after a neighbor complained at 10:24 p.m. of long grass and weeds in the yard.

• Cash was reported stolen at 6:03 p.m. from a residence in the 200 block of 11th Avenue. Police have leads.

• An anonymous caller at 8:17 p.m. complained of dogs routinely barking in the 2500 block of 8th Street. Police went to the area but located no dogs barking.

• An anonymous caller at 11:47 p.m. complained of dogs barking in the 2000 block of 14th Avenue. When police went to the area, lots of dogs all around the neighborhood were barking. A warning notice was left for one dog owner.

On Saturday, July 27:

• Police responded to a complaint at 1:39 a.m. of noise coming from a residence in the 800 block of 20th Avenue. The residents had just moved in and were painting and listening to music. They were warned to keep it down.

• A gas drive-off was reported at 8 a.m. at Stop-N-Go, 1607 9th St. The offender was an elderly person with forgetfulness problems. Arrangements were made for payment.

• A resident reported a stray cat with a possible broken leg in the 800 block of 16th Avenue at 10:19 a.m. When she tried to care for the cat, it bit her and ran off. Police are looking to live-trap it so it can be quarantined.

• An odor was reported at 10:58 a.m. in the area of Blackhawk Technical College, suspected to be coming from the nearby garbage transfer station. Police determined the smell was actually coming from a nearby cheese factory.

On Sunday, July 28:

• A 911 caller at 1:21 a.m. in the 1200 block of 12th Street said she thought her neighbor's house was on fire. The reported house fire turned out to be a legal fire pit in the neighbors' backyard. The fire department was not called in.

• A man was warned for public urination at 1:37 a.m. in the 1300 block of 18th Street.

• An officer on patrol at 3:43 a.m. in Recreation Park discovered that posts had been pulled out of the ground and placed across the road in the park. The officer put the posts back.

• A stolen bicycle was found dumped in a residential yard in the 1200 block of 12th Street at 12:30 p.m. Since it was licensed, police were able to return the bicycle to its owner. While police were on scene, the next-door neighbor reported another bicycle stolen.

• A dog loose in the 1900 block of 13th Street was reported at 1:29 p.m. The dog was returned to its owner, who said a small child let it out.

On Monday, July 29:

• Loitering people were reported and chased out of the Taco Bell parking lot in the 600 block of West 8th Street at 1:13 a.m. and 10:06 p.m.

• Knocked-over trash cans at Twining Park were discovered at 2:10 a.m. by an officer on patrol.

• Two digital cameras worth about $150 each were reported stolen at 12:59 p.m. out of an unlocked vehicle in the 2600 block of 8th Street.

• A woman reported at 7 p.m. that her estranged husband was making phone calls to her, in violation of a restraining order. The case was referred to the district attorney.

• Barking dogs were reported at 7:27 p.m. in the 1500 block of 23rd Street. No one was home, but police made plans to follow up later.

• A tenant in an apartment complex in the 1300 block of 16th Street complained at 9:23 p.m. about noise from neighboring apartments. The neighbors were throwing a birthday party for a child.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - On Monday, July 29:

• Adam D. Bliss, 31, Darlington, was arrested at 10:10 a.m. at the Green County Justice Center on a Department of Corrections probation hold. He was jailed.

• Sabrina Deen Lisser, 21, Monroe, was arrested on an Albany Police Department warrant for failure to pay a fine, after deputies stopped a vehicle at 8:22 p.m. for a traffic infraction in the N9200 block of Wisconsin 104 in Brooklyn Township. She was taken to the Albany police station, where bond was posted and she was released.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Monday, July 29:

• Germaine M. Harmon, 41, Milwaukee, was cited for unsafe lane deviation and speeding at 4:49 p.m. on U.S. 151 in Belmont Township.

• Travis J. Simmons, 31, Dodgeville, was cited for a seatbelt violation at 7:01 p.m. on Otter Creek Road in Darlington Township.

• A deputy responded to a report at 3:33 p.m. that a construction company struck a wire on High Street in Shullsburg.

• A court order violation was reported at 9:04 p.m. on Furnace Hill Road in Wiota Township.
