Green County Sheriff

MONROE - Ashley Nicole Daniels, 27, Juda, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and substantial battery after deputies received a report at 5:56 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, of an assault that occurred at a residence in the N2000 block of County OK in Spring Grove Township. She was jailed pending court.

• Citations are pending from a one-vehicle accident on County W east of Argue Road in Exeter Township, reported at 6:19 a.m. Wednesday, July 17. The driver left the scene but was later identified as Sean M. Bongard, 23, Evansville. He was westbound when he veered onto the north shoulder, then overcorrected, and the vehicle spun and slid across the road. The vehicle then slid backwards off the road and hit a mailbox, a culvert and an embankment. Bongard was uninjured. The vehicle was severely damaged and towed.

Monroe Police

MONROE - Two Monroe men were arrested after police were called to a dispute involving several people in a parking lot in the 1600 block of 4th Avenue West at 11:11 p.m. Sunday, July 14. In the course of the argument, one threatened that he had a pistol and would use it. Police located no pistol. Gene A. Isely, 31, and Thomas R. Schmid, 23, were cited for disorderly conduct. Schmid was also cited for driving with a suspended license (fourth offense). They were released.

On Monday, July 15:

• A caller at 2:27 a.m. complained of coyotes howling in the 1400 block of Willow Way.

• A 40-year-old man from Bellevue, Iowa, was found sleeping at 3:50 a.m. on a terrace in the 700 block of 8th Street. He was incapacitated by alcohol. He told police he had just lain down for a little rest on his way home. He was taken into protective custody and turned over to a responsible party.

• A stray German Shepherd-type dog was found sitting at 6:01 a.m. in a doorway to a bar in the 1300 block of 17th Street. The Green County Humane Society was alerted that the dog was loose in the area.

• A caller at 7:01 a.m. reported finding a coon hound running at large in the 1700 block of Lake Drive. The dog was returned to its owner, who was warned for letting the dog go loose.

• Police responded at 9:18 a.m. to a complaint of three dogs left in a parked vehicle outside Walmart, 300 6th Ave. W. The vehicle was gone by the time police arrived.

• A theft of pallets from outside a business in the 100 block of 10th 1/2 Street was reported at 3:24 p.m.

• A resident in the 1700 block of 16th Street reported at 7:47 p.m. that people were driving past and throwing empty soda bottles into his yard. It had already happened three times that day.

• A 16-year-old girl was reported at 8:06 p.m. for bullying kids in Recreation Park. She was gone when police arrived, but they got her name, called her and warned her to stop.

On Tuesday, July 16:

• A 23-year-old Monroe man was found passed out at 2:15 a.m. in a yard in the 700 block of 17th Street. He was taken into protective custody and turned over to his wife.

• A property owner in the 1300 block of 16th Street was warned to mow the lawn after police responded at 4:09 p.m. to a complaint about long grass.

• A metal briefcase was reported missing or lost at 4:33 p.m. in the 2000 block of 16th Street.

• A theft of prescription pills from a residence in the 500 block of 21st Street was reported at 4:42 p.m.

• Police responded to a 911 hangup at 7:53 p.m., tracked to somewhere in the Green County Fairgrounds. No caller or problem was located.

On Wednesday, July 17:

• A coin purse and other miscellaneous items were reported stolen at 12:14 a.m. from a locked vehicle parked in the 1100 block of 7th Avenue. The vehicle may have had its windows down.

• A 42-year-old Monroe woman was taken into protective custody and turned over to a family member after a caller at 12:38 a.m. reported she was incapacitated by alcohol in her home in the 2500 block of 9th Street.

• A verbal dispute between a mother and her adult son was reported at 7:03 a.m. in the 300 block of 4th Street. They were threatening each other, but police found the argument did not rise to the level of domestic abuse. No one was arrested or cited.

• Police were called to a report from a customer at a hair salon on North 18th Avenue that an employee was following her around the business. The employee denied it and said she was just texting. Police referred the matter to the business management.

• Police responded to a 911 hangup at 11:53 a.m., tracked to somewhere in the Green County Fairgrounds. No caller or problem was located.

• A stray Sheltie-type dog was found at 3:10 p.m. in the area of 20th Avenue and 6th Street. A citizen cornered the animal, and the Green County Humane Society was able to snatch it and take it to the shelter.

• An elderly resident in the 1700 block of 8th Avenue called 911 at 10:31 p.m. to report someone was knocking on her trailer. An officer responded and found no one.

• An anonymous caller at 10:38 p.m. reported that dogs may be inside an empty home in the 700 block of 16th Avenue. Police checked the exterior of the residence but did not see or hear dogs.

Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - Patrick J. Allen, 21, and Paige A. Gilman, both of Argyle, were arrested on charges of criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct after a deputy assisted Argyle police with a domestic disturbance on Monroe Street in Argyle at 5:02 p.m. Wednesday, July 17. Allen and Gilman were jailed.

• Child abuse was reported on Wis. 11 in Benton Township at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17. The case was referred to Lafayette County Human Services.
