MONROE - Brandon L. Heilman, 33, Monroe, was arrested on a second-offense charge of driving while intoxicated after officers stopped a vehicle in the 1200 block of 9th Street at 2:03 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23. Heilman was also cited for driving with a suspended license. He was released to a responsible person pending court.

• An arguing couple called police twice in 24 hours to a residence in the 1900 block of 11th Street. The first call came at 12:12 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, when a woman alleged her boyfriend took the keys to her car and wouldn't give them back. Police told him to give the keys back to her. The couple was again arguing and called police at 12:08 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24. The situation was temporarily resolved when the boyfriend decided to stay elsewhere for the night.

• A notice was left at a residence in the 1500 block of Parkview Drive at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, warning the residents to remove two unregistered vehicles with flat tires in the driveway.

• A caller at 10:09 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, reported he was driving in the 800 block of 22nd Avenue when the occupant(s) in a vehicle in front of him threw two malt beverage bottles out the window. Police searched for the vehicle on suspicion of littering and intoxicated driving but did not locate it.

• A black Labrador dog named Kennington was reported lost somewhere in Monroe at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23.

• Management at Gasthaus Motel, 685 30th St., reported at 1:46 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, that a guest at the motel the previous night had smoked in a non-smoking room and damaged the bathroom door. Police are following leads.

• A set of keys was found outside Advanced Dermatology, Inc., 1123 16th Ave., at 2:38 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, and turned over to police. To claim, call dispatch at (608) 329-2400.

• A resident reported finding a female cat in a garage in the 2100 block of 12th Street at 4:34 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, and is keeping the animal until it is claimed. The cat is black, orange and white.

• An officer on patrol documented a vehicle vs. dog accident in the 2100 block of 16th Avenue at 5:44 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23. The dog owner and the driver were making arrangements to have the injured animal seen by a vet.

• A woman in the 500 block of West 21st Street reported at 12:43 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, that someone has been shooting at her cats. She lets the cats outside, and when they come back, they have injuries that suggest they were shot at by a BB gun or an air rifle.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Wednesday, Jan. 23:

• Susan R. Helton, 24, was transported at 7:10 a.m. from the Grant County Jail to Darlington for a court appearance. Afterward, deputies returned her to the Grant County Jail.

• Morgan D. Golden, 22, Beloit, was arrested at 11:58 a.m. on a charge of driving with a revoked license on Wisconsin 11 in the Town of Gratiot. A passenger in the vehicle, Demarcus A. Isabelle, 24, Beloit, was arrested on charges of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession. Golden and Isabelle were later released after posting bond.

• Camilo Mendez, 43, Cuba City, was cited for driving without a valid license or proof of vehicle insurance at 4:47 p.m. on County H in the Town of Benton.

• A deputy responded to a civil dispute on West Main Street in Benton at 10:47 a.m. in reference to personal property being removed from the residence.

• A theft was reported at 12:18 p.m. at the Benton Schools on Alma Street.

• A deputy responded at 1:52 p.m. to a report of a dog running at large in Benton.

• A deputy assisted Darlington police at 3:50 p.m. by checking an area of the Pecatonica River near Minerva Street where it was reported several juveniles were ice skating.
