Monroe Police

MONROE - Christopher L. Sibley, 27, Monroe, was arrested at 11:23 p.m. in the 1400 block of 11th Street for an outstanding warrant issued by the Monroe Police Department for disorderly conduct and battery. Sibley posted the required bond amount and was released.

On Thursday, Jan. 9:

• Police were contacted at 1:22 p.m. regarding a possible telephone scam. The complaint received a call claiming to be from the US Treasury Department asking for personal information to send the complainant a large amount of cash. Complainant knew the call was fraudulent and did not supply the requested information.

• Chelsea R. Knell, 24, Monroe, was taken into custody for retail theft at 7:59 p.m. after police were called to Walmart for a report of retail theft. The alleged stolen merchandise was returned to Walmart security personnel. Knell was cited for retail theft and released pending court.

• Stacey D.E. Sager, 20, Lena, was arrested and charged with 11 counts of retail theft after police were called at 11:22 p.m. to Walmart to investigate a report that a Walmart employee had taken, during work hours, numerous items from the store without permission over a period of time beginning in late November 2013. The value of the items taken was approximately $4,000. Sager was jailed pending court.

DARLINGTON - On Thursday, Jan. 9:

• A deputy responded at 3:59 a.m. to a residence on County XX in Belmont Township for a 911 misdial.

• A deputy responded at 7:30 a.m. to County G in Willow Springs Township for a report of livestock on the roadway.

• A deputy responded at 8:45 a.m. to a residence on Prospect Street in Blanchardville to check the welfare of a juvenile who had not returned home to Mount Horeb after spending school vacation time with a parent.

• Dallas A. King, 20, South Wayne, was arrested at 2:05 p.m. for theft at a business on Wis. 11 in South Wayne. King posted bond and was released.

• Brett R. Coulthard, 19, Cuba City, was cited at 5:15 p.m. for speeding on County E in Darlington Township.

• A deputy responded at 5:39 p.m. to Wis. 23 in Darlington Township to remove a deer carcass from the roadway. The deer had been struck by an unknown vehicle.

• A deputy responded at 5:59 p.m. to County G in Belmont Township to remove a Christmas tree from the roadway. The tree had likely been dropped from a passing vehicle, then hit by another vehicle. No damage was reported.

• Deputies assisted the Belmont Police Department at 10:09 p.m. with a suspicious activity complaint on Commerce Street in Belmont.
