Monroe Police

MONROE - Police were called to a civil dispute between a mother and son at 11 p.m. Sunday, April 7, in the 700 block of 12th Avenue. No one was cited or arrested.

On Monday, April 8:

• A woman in the 1000 block of 7th Avenue called at 7:50 a.m. to report that the father of her son was sending her harassing texts. Police looked through the texts and determined the messages were all regarding insurance for the son and did not rise to the level of harassment.

• A resident in the 1900 block of 15th Avenue reported at 11:39 a.m. that he left jumper cables in a vehicle he sold via Craigslist and now the buyer was denying the jumper cables were in the vehicle. Police advised him it is a civil dispute, not criminal.

• An employee at Suisse Haus, 1602 12th St., reported at 1:42 p.m. that someone is stealing the restaurant's aluminum cans and selling them at a salvage yard. Police are investigating a suspect.

• Police were called at 6:33 p.m. to the 1600 block of 14th Avenue for a dispute over child visitation. The parents were referred to their attorneys.

• A 10-year-old boy called 911 at 7:24 p.m. to report he was being picked on by three other children in Lincoln Park, 1900 15th Ave. The offenders were two boys, ages 9 and 10, and an 11-year-old girl. Police talked with the children and contacted their parents.

• A boy's blue BMX bicycle valued at about $100 was reported stolen at 7:58 p.m. from the 2200 block of 15th Street.

• A caller at 8:02 p.m. reported hearing someone being spanked outside a residence in the 700 block of 12th Avenue. Police discovered that a man had been spanking his 8-year-old son and found no evidence of abuse.

• Cash and blank checks were reported stolen at 10:32 p.m. from an apartment in the 1300 block of 16th Street. Police are investigating leads.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - Two weeks after she was convicted of her first offense of driving while intoxicated, Emily Ann Skattum, 29, Monroe, was arrested Monday, April 8, on a second-offense charge of driving while under the influence of a controlled substance. Deputies responded at 12:42 p.m. to a complaint of an erratic westbound vehicle in the W2500 block of Wisconsin 11 in Sylvester Township. The vehicle, driven by Skattum, was located and stopped in Monroe. She was also cited for driving with a revoked license and no vehicle insurance. She was released to a responsible person pending court.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Monday, April 8:

• Joseph T. Clark, 21, Mineral Point, was cited for unreasonable and imprudent speeding after a deputy responded to a complaint at 3:02 p.m. of an erratically driven vehicle on County G in Calamine.

• Michael E. Batio, 56, Holyoke, Mass., was cited for speeding at 5:27 p.m. on Wisconsin 11 in Shullsburg Township.

• A deputy assisted the Boscobel Police Department at 5:55 p.m. with an investigation into a possible court-order violation that had occurred at a sporting event in Boscobel.
