Permin P. Graber, age 87, formerly of Monticello and Argyle, died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. Permin was born November 18, 1924 in Jordan Township, Green County, Wisconsin, the son of Swiss Immigrants Peter and Marie (Nageli) Graber. Permin attended Ullom Rural School. He married Verena Kopp on October 21, 1951 at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello. The couple farmed and raised registered Holsteins in Washington Township from 1951 until 1972 and later farmed in Argyle Township until moving into Argyle in 2000.
Permin was a member of the Zwingli United Church of Christ, Green County Holstein Breeders and the National Holstein Friesan Association. He enjoyed traveling to Switzerland to visit relatives and in his younger years. Permin was active in Turn and Schwing and the Washington Township Tug of War Team.
He is survived by his four children, Paul Graber of Monroe, Diana Rhoads of Madison, Philip Graber of Chicago, IL, and Perry (Cheryl) Graber of Monticello; four grandchildren, Tina Graber of Monticello, Traci Graber of Monroe, Brienne Graber, Alexis Graber, both of Monticello; his great-granddaughter, Dianne "Annie" Stanke of Fayetteville, NC; two sisters, Marie Siegenthaler and Lillian (Ted) Falk, both of Monroe; and a brother, Peter (Shirley) Graber Jr., of Monticello. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Verena on June 8, 2007; a son, Richard Graber; a grandson, Chad Graber; and a brother, Otto Graber.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, with Rev. Lawrence Balleine officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be given in Permin's name to the American Heart Association or a charity of one's choice. The Voegeli-Newcomer Funeral Home, Monticello, is assisting the family.
