Orville Irvin Gilbertson, 85, of Monticello, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home. He was born on June 1, 1932 the son of Tyler and Clara (Dammen) Gilbertson in Blanchardville. He was united in marriage to Doris Stauffacher on September 27, 1959 at the Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello.
Orville proudly served his country in the US Army from April 6, 1956 - April 9, 1958.
He and his family farmed for many years in the Monticello area. He also was employed with Dairy Farmers of America, Oaktron Industries, Dick's Supermarket and Idle Hour Mansion.
Orville is survived by his children, Gary (Denise) Gilbertson of Monticello, Diane Gilbertson of Freeport, Krisarah Gilbertson, Kristine Signer, and Amanda Gilbertson all of Monroe; 6 grandchildren: Mandy Mboge, Melissa Trumpy, Jesse Aisenbrey, Jennifer (Bobby) McLoud, Elizabeth (Travis) Patterson and Derek Gilbertson; 14 great-grandchildren; and brother, Henry Gilbertson of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; daughters, Karen Rae Gilbertson and Leanne Mae Gilbertson; siblings, Hartford Gilbertson, Bonnie Johnson, Clarinda Berry, Marvin Gilbertson, Tillman Gilbertson, Janet Hardyman, Alve Gilbertson, Lela Jenny and Delores Jenny.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 noon, Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Zwingli United Church of Christ with Pastor Lance Smith officiating. Burial will follow services at the Highland Cemetery in Monticello.
Visitation will be Friday, March 23rd, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
Memorials may be made in Orville's memory to Zwingli United Church of Christ.
