Orpha Kuster, a long-time resident of Monroe Wis, died Monday, July 31, 2017 in Whitewater Wisconsin at Glenwood Assisted Living.

Born in Warren Illinois on December 22, 1927. She graduated Warren High School in 1945. Lived in New Glarus before moving to Monroe. Orpha tended bars for 40 years. Known was as "Sophie" to most who came in while she manned her station behind the bar at various establishments in Monroe until she retired at age 75. She was a lifetime of the VFW and American Legion. She later moved to Whitewater to be nearer to her family.

Orpha loved to fish, do crossword puzzles, and always enjoyed meeting people. She was a woman of great determination and perseverance; striking out on her own immediately after high school.

She is preceded in death by Irving Gilbertson (brother), Viola Schickles (sister), Leona Blascoe (sister), and Agnes Rowald (sister). Surviving siblings: Grant who resides in Argyle and Helen who lives in California.

She is survived by her four children: Catherine M. Elmer, Robert J. O. Kuster (spouse Susan Kuster), William A Kuster (spouse Dale Kuster), Sharon E. Ratzburg (spouse Robert Ratzburg), 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She will be missed.

Memorial Services will be held at 11AM on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, 550 N. Newcomb Street, Whitewater, WI., with Pastor Jerald Wendt officiating.

Visitation will be after 10AM on Monday at the funeral home until the time of the services.
