NEW GLARUS - Norma Jean Bircher passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the New Glarus Home just days after celebrating her 90th Birthday with family and friends. She was born on March 25, 1927, near Linden, WI to her parents A.C. and Genevieve (Kelly) Callin.

Norma grew up near Linden, WI where she graduated from Mineral Point High School. Norma later graduated from Madison Business College and worked in Madison, WI until getting married. On February 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to John Bircher at Mineral Point, WI. John and Norma first farmed in the Monticello and New Glarus area until 1968 when they moved to a farm near Blanchardville. Along with helping John with the farm work Norma enjoyed her large garden, canning, freezing, sewing, and was involved with the local Homemakers group. The couple farmed there until 2004 when they retired to Monroe.

Norma enjoyed spending time with family and friends, including special moments with her only grandchild and later her great-grandchildren.

Norma was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children, Sandy Bircher of Greenville, SC, Beverly (John) Campbell of Turangi, New Zealand, and Ron (Shirley) Bircher of New Glarus, WI, a grandson Matthew (Becky) Bircher, and their children Reese and Keenan, of Eureka MO, and extended family members.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband John Bircher, her parents, and brothers, Robert and Glen Callin.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the New Glarus Home Chapel, 600 Second Ave., New Glarus, WI (access via the Elm Dr. entrance), with Pastor Randy Booth officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery, New Glarus, WI.

Relatives and friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the New Glarus Home Chapel, (access via Elm Dr.).
