WARREN-- Nicholas W. Block, 30 passed away at FHN Memorial Hospital on October 31, 2010. He was born September 18, 1980 in Darlington, WI to Gary and Debra (Klenke) Block.
Nicholas graduated from Warren High School in 1999. He went to Army Reserve Boot Camp in Fort Knox, KY then to Red Stone, AL for his AIT to become an Ammunition Specialist for the Rockford US Army Reserve. He went to Highland Community College and graduated in 2002 with an Associate in Engineering. Nicholas went to work for FEHR-Graham & Associates as an Engineering Inspector until he was deployed with his unit #826 Ordinance to Kandahar, Afghanistan in February 2004 until March 2005. Nicholas worked for FEHR-Graham until July 2010 when he started working for the Illinois DOT based in Stockton. He was a member of the Freeport VFW #998. Nicholas loved riding his motorcycle, four wheeling, snowmobiling, snowboarding, and playing golf. He enjoyed any outdoor activities. Anytime there was a group of his friends, he was there with his constant smile. Nicholas was always there to help out anyone who needed help.
Nicholas is survived by: his parents, 1 sister Brittny Marie (Russ) Redfearn of Galena, IL. Paternal grandmother Vera Block of Monroe, WI, Maternal grandmother Velma Klenke of Darlington, WI, a large number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Proceeded by his: paternal grandfather Chester Block, maternal grandfather Glen Klenke, 1 uncle: Kevin Klenke, 2 aunts: Lavonne and Lois, and his great grandparents.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL
Visitation is from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL. Officiating the service will be Reverend Janice Diefenthaler.
