Mrs. Delores A. Kohn, 74, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on May 8, 2011 at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints.

Delores was born on November 20, 1936 in Orangeville, Ill. to the late Martin VanBuren and Gladys (Schulz) Reeser. She was united in marriage to Homer L. Kohn on November 16, 1957. She graduated from Orangeville High School "Class of 1955" before attending Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where she earned an evening school diploma. The wife of a career military chaplain, Delores was a devoted homemaker no matter where the family was stationed. She also was a wonderful mother who took care of the special needs of her son Michael. She was lovingly known to her grandchildren as "Gramma Dee."

Delores attended Calvary Memorial Church in Racine, her home since 1993. She was also a member of Ladies Bible Study, Ladies Christmas Tea, and Vacation Bible School. She had a love of gardening, especially flowers, and enjoyed her travels both throughout the U.S. and abroad with her husband. She was very people oriented and made friends wherever she went. She was also a motherly figure to many people, especially to the servicemen her husband, Homer, ministered to on base.

Delores will be dearly missed by her husband, Homer; children Michael Kohn of Racine, Kim (Loren) Walburg of Rockford, Mich., and Naomi (Mike) Nyboer of Jenison, Mich.; grandchildren, Lauren (Brad) Gustafson, Justin and Jason Walburg, Collin, Shelby, Bryce, and Jarred Nyboer; a sister, Loriene (Johannes) Vanderwal; and three sister-in-laws, Joan Reeser, Joanie Reeser, and Jean Zimmerman. She was preceded in death by her brothers, LaVerne, Donald, and Alvin Reeser.

Funeral services for Delores will begin with a visitation at Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 from 6 to 9 p.m. Services will follow on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Calvary Memorial Church, 4001 Washington Ave., Racine, with a visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Mrs. Kohn will then be taken to her hometown of Orangeville, Ill. where a visitation will be held Thursday evening, May 12, 2011 at Cramer-Leamon Funeral Home, 200 W. High St., from 6 to 9 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Basswood Cemetery near Orangeville.
