DARLINGTON - A 14-year-old Darlington girl missing since early Monday, April 1, has been located by police 850 miles away in LIberal, Kan., and the man who accompanied her is facing charges.

Authorities located Adriana Andrade on Wednesday evening, April 3, after tracking a cell phone to Liberal, according to Darlington Police Chief Jason King. She was found in good health. Liberal police are detaining her while her parents make arrangements to drive to Kansas to retrieve her.

Marcos Mermudez-Sanchez, 22, is accused of taking Andrade away from Darlington without parental consent and is in Liberal police custody. He is being held on charges of obstructing justice, aggravated interference with custody and aggravated indecent liberties.

Mermudez-Sanchez will remain jailed in Kansas to face local charges but will also face charges in Wisconsin, King said. The matter is being referred to the Lafayette County District Attorney's Office for review and a final charging decision.
