Michigan woman, children injured in Juda accident Friday

TOWN OF SYLVESTER - Injuries were reported during a two-vehicle accident at 9:44 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20 on Wisconsin 11, near Hartwig Road, in the Town of Sylvester.

Green County deputies, along with Juda Fire Department and First Response, Monroe EMS, Brodhead EMS and Wisconsin State Patrol, responded to the crash.

Reports indicate that a vehicle driven by Tracey L. Schollmeyer, 50, Hudsonville, Mich., was westbound on Wis. 11 when she lost control of her vehicle. Schollmeyer's Hyundai collided head-on with a semi traveling eastbound, driven by Paul T. Fantene 60, O'Fallon, Ill.

Schollmeyer's vehicle spun into the north ditch coming to a rest; the semi entered the south ditch, collided with a road sign and came to a rest.

Schollmeyer received injuries and was transported to Monroe ER by Brodhead EMS. She was wearing her seatbelt and her airbag did deploy. A passenger, Sophie A. Schollmeyer, 13, Hudsonville, Mich., received injuries and was transported by Green County EMS to Monroe ER. A second passenger, Isabella M. Schollmeyer, 10, Hudsonville, Mich., received injuries and was transported by Green County EMS to Monroe ER. The Schollmeyer vehicle had severe front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

Fantene received injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene. The semi-unit had severe front-end damage and was towed. The refrigerated semi-trailer was not damaged.

Ice covered roadways were a contributing factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation pending the commercial motor vehicle post-crash inspection. Wisconsin 11 was closed to one lane of traffic for about four hours. The Green County Highway Department assisted.
