Marvin LaVerne Schmerse, 93, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014, at The Heights at Evansville Manor.
He was born July 4, 1920 in Monroe, the son of Emil and Anna (Wendler) Schmerse.
Marvin was married to Ruth Meyers on February 12, 1944 in Juda.
Marvin worked for Badger Northland, Rochester Silo and Dairyland Seed in the sales and services area. He was a member of the Janesville Church of Christ.
Marvin served as Elder a few years and taught Sunday school classes. Marvin was active in Rock County Farm Bureau. He served on the board of directors for many years and was County President for five years. Marvin was a 4-H leader in woodworking and was a woodworking Superintendent at Rock County 4-H fair for several years.
He is survived by his wife Ruth of Evansville; daughter Joyce A. Storer of Milwaukee; sons Donald M. (Dynah) of Waxahackie, Texas and David D. (Linda) of Coal Valley, Illinois; 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl and Sam; and sister, Wilma Starke.
Funeral services will be held at NEWCOMER-SILVERTHORN CHAPEL ON THE HILL, Hwy 11 and South Coon Island Road, Orfordville, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014, with Mark Schmerse, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Juda.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and from 9:30 until the time of service on Thursday.
