Mark Kenneth Rufer, beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly after a long struggle with his heart, Sunday, June 5, 2011, at the age of 50. He was born February 19, 1961 in Monroe to Kenneth and Dottie (Andrews) Rufer. He graduated from Monroe High School with the class of 1979. Mark married his soul mate and the love of his life, Tammi Relph on March 15, 1997.
Mark worked as an electrician with his father at Buri Electric Co. for many years, then for Gentz Electric for 4 years before realizing his dream of starting his own electric business called MKR Electric. He was an avid outdoorsman whose passion included: hunting - especially coyote, fishing, bird watching, playing golf, playing pool and softball. Mark especially loved his wife, their pets Mick, Sunny and Sam and last but not least, his many friends.
Mark is survived by his wife, Tammi; his parents Ken & Dottie Rufer of Monroe; sisters Ruth Ann (Joe) Klein of Monroe and Linda (Mark) Breitnauer of Madison; mother-in-law Sandi (Scott) Lenz and father-in-law David (Bonnie) Relph, brothers-in-law Steve (Sabrina) Ryan, Dusty Relph: sister-in-law Tara (Rob) Johnson; plus nieces and nephews. Mark is preceded in death by his best friend and brother David A. Rufer in 2007, along with paternal and maternal grandparents and a brother-in-law, Mike Georgeson.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive & N. 18th Avenue in Monroe, WI. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home.
