Age 74 of Monroe, died on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at her home. Marilyn was born May 18, 1936 in Lewiston, Nebraska, the daughter of Ralph and Estella (Himberg) Campbell. She married J. Donald Halvorsen on July 14, 1956 in Lincoln, NE.
Marilyn worked at several banks in Nebraska and Illinois for 12 years, then farmed with her husband in Illinois and Monticello.
She was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello and served for many years in the Faith Circle. She also enjoyed bowling, crocheting, ceramics, reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, J. Donald Halvorsen of Monroe; four children, Daniel of Cherry Valley, IL, Lonnie of Monticello, Robert Sr. of Monroe, and Ann (Dale) Trumpy of Monticello; 14 grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; one greatgreatgranddaughter; two sisters, Shirleen Flesner of Buckley, WA and Carolyn (Lanny) Griffin of Lincoln, NE; and her brother-in-law, Jack Hoffman of Lewiston, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Randy Halvorsen; and her sister, Donna Belle Hoffman.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, with Rev. Lawrence Balleine officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Voegeli-Newcomer Funeral Home, Monticello.
