Marie M. Rufener, age 92, of Monroe, died on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on January 26, 1919, the daughter of Wilhelm and Elise (Beggert) Teuscher and attended Haddinger School and Monroe High School.
Marie was married on August 20, 1941 and became Jacob W. Rufener's first wife. Marie was employed at Ace Hardware for over 40 years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, where she was active in St. John's Church Choir and Church circles, Monroe Swiss Singers, Monroe Garden Club, Women of the Moose, Chapter #599.
She is survived by son, Ken (Cathy ) Rufener of Monroe; daughters, Susan (Jerry) Parker of Landsdowne, PA; grandchildren, Zachary and Jessica Marie Parker, Garrett and Nathan Rufener; sisters, Rose (Ed) Boone and Elsie Slaby both of Milwaukee; and daughter-in-law, Susie Rufener of New Glarus. She is predeceased by her parents; son, Dick Rufener; brother, William Teuscher; and brother-in-law, George Slaby.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, with Rev. Gretchen Sylvester officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
