Marie C. Mason, age 85, of Monroe, Wisconsin died on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe surrounded by her family. Marie was born on April 8, 1929 in rural Argyle to Bjarne and Millie (Vinger) Bredeson. She attended area rural schools and graduated from Blanchardville High School.
She worked for Rossings in Argyle and later at Wiota Dairy Coop. When she moved to Monroe she worked at Monroe Manor.
She was married to Jay Wilfred "Willie" Mason on June 4, 1949 at the Wiota Lutheran Parsonage. She is survived by five children: Penny (Roger) Mayer of Monroe, Pauline Mau of South Wayne, Rick (Beth) of Madison, Tami (Randy) Sweeney of Janesville, and Mike (Chris Soper) of Browntown.
She had 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Marie is survived by two sisters and one brother: Berneice (James) Benz of Rockford, Mavis Robertson of Monroe, and Robert (Mary Ann) Bredeson of Beloit. She is also survived by five sisters-in-law: Betty Bredeson of Dalton, GA, Judy Bredeson of Rockford, Hope Bredeson of North Carolina, Virginia Bredeson of Argyle, and Marie E. Mason of Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Willie; her son-in-law: Al Mau; five brothers: Vernus, Bernard, Martin, Jerome, and Gerald; and one sister: Irene.
Marie was a member of Wiota Lutheran Church, its Women of ELCA (Martha's Circle), and past Sunday school teacher. She was also a charter member of Wiota Fireman's Auxiliary and past member of Wiota Homemakers.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Wiota Lutheran Church, 6682 State Road 78 in rural South Wayne, WI, with Rev. Luke S. Smetters officiating.
