JUDA - A Juda man was charged with driving under the influence and hit-and-run following a three-vehicle crash in Green County Wednesday, authorities said.
Just before 5 p.m., Green County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a crash in the W2600 block of Wisconsin 11 in the town of Jefferson.
According to police reports, Jeffrey S. Dampier, 48, of Juda was driving east on Wis. 11 when he began to turn into the driveway of a business, striking a second vehicle driven by Alfred B. Ordman, 62, of Monticello, who was driving westbound. Ordman's vehicle was then pushed into a third vehicle - operated by a Brian J. Kammerer, 33, of Brodhead - who was waiting for traffic to pass to allow him to turn onto Wis. 11, reports said.
Dampier then fled the scene but was later arrested at his home. Ordman was transported to Monroe Clinic for non-life threatening injuries and later released, according to police.
Dampier was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants; hit-and-run causing injuries; failure to yield right-of-way while turning into a driveway; failure to notify law enforcement of a crash; and operating a motor vehicle without safety glass.
He was released pending a court appearance. Police said all drivers were wearing seat belts - airbags deployed in Ordman's vehicle but not in the others. The Juda Fire Department and Green County EMS assisted at the scene.
