Maggie L. Segner, age 101, of Monroe, died on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on August 5, 1907 the daughter of Joel and Amanda (Johnson) Hale in Vesper, WI.
Maggie Hale and John Segner were married on February 28, 1924. She was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church. Maggie enjoyed traveling, playing cards, square dancing, reading, and politics.
Surviving are her sons, Elton (Darlyne) Segner of Monroe; Wayne (Mary Lou) Segner of Plain Field, IL; four grandchildren: Cathy (Wesley) Winters of South Wayne, Wayne (Laurie) Segner of Monroe, Lori (Dan) Klemm of Monroe, and Heidi (Rob) Treuthardt of Monroe; 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian Long of Brodhead, and a sister-in-law, Katherine Hale of Lake Summerset, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, two brothers, and a granddaughter, Nancy Gruenewald.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2009 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Mary Gafner, with burial in Saucerman Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials may be made in Maggie's memory to the Monroe United Methodist Church or the Activity Department at Pleasant View Nursing Home.
