Mabel M. Zimmerman, age 86 of Madison, formerly of Monticello, died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Harmony Living Center, Stoughton. Mabel was born November 27, 1926 in Exeter Township, Green County, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Leonia Mae (Staley) Wirth. She married Ralph A. Zimmerman on May 14, 1947 in Monticello. Mabel and Ralph farmed in Washington Township until moving to Madison in 1989. Mabel was the love of Ralph's life, you never saw one without the other. She was a private person whose life revolved around her family. She enjoyed gardening, canning, playing piano and accordion, and yodeling. She was a member of the Washington Reformation United Church of Christ, Monticello.

Mabel is survived by the love of her life for 66 years, Ralph Zimmerman of Stoughton; three children, Christine Zimmerman of Verona, Michael Zimmerman and partner Rowland Hughes, both of Tampa, FL, and Cathy Zimmerman of Stoughton; five grandchildren, Troy (Khrissiey), Jennifer, Jessica, Brittany, and Mitchell; two great-grandsons, Cole and Xander; and a sister, Nellie Babler of Belleville. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Roger Ralph as an infant, and Ralph Roger Zimmerman at age 43; four brothers, John, Edwin, Walter, and Wilbert Wirth; and two sisters, Wilma Saxer and Viola Holcomb.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Washington Reformation UCC, rural Monticello, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Voegeli-Newcomer Funeral Home, Monticello, and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Mabel's name.
