FOOTVILLE - M. Kathryn (Kauk) Peterson, age 78, went to be with the Lord, and her husband/dancing partner, David, on Friday, June 17, 2011 at AngelsGrace Hospice, Oconomowoc, surrounded by her children. As much as she will be missed, we are comforted knowing that she is reunited with Dad. Kathryn was born in Brooklyn Township, WI on October 16, 1932, to Phillip and Mary (Bartlett) Kauk. She attended a one room school for eight years, then graduated from Albany High School in 1950. After high school, Kathryn began her long successful career in the banking industry, first at the Bank of Albany, and then retiring after 30 years from Mid America Bank in Footville, WI, where she was a well respected member of many banking and community organizations.

On April 11, 1953 Kathryn married David A. Peterson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. As they began their life together, they settled in the Footville area where they bought their farm and the local Feed Mill. Here is where they raised their six children, who were the joy of their lives.

Kathryn was an active member of the New Horizon United Methodist Church, serving on several committees, and auditing the financials for many years. After retiring, she proudly served her community by volunteering with the Food Pantry of Orfordville and the Footville Election Board. Her favorite retirement activity was traveling the state to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in a variety of activities and sports.

Kathryn is survived by her 6 children:

Mareejo (Robert) Seidemann of Sussex, and their children, Jennifer and Jason; David, Jr. of Stevens Point, and his children, Kari and Jacob; Leann (Robert Johnson) Stluka of Milton, and her children, Sarah (Eric Norton) Stluka and their children, Hailee and Quinn; Wendy (Jerod) Copus and their children: Faith, Myah, Naomi, and Brodie, Scott Stluka and his son, Trevor; Karalyn (Keith) Simes of Milton, and their children, Hannah and Abigail; Janice Willger of Bangor, and her children, Ryan and Jacalyn; Allen (Nancy) of Edgerton, and their children Owen and Emmily; she is further survived by her step-grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren; special sister and brother-in-law Jean (Paul) Clark of Brodhead; sister Phyllis Pickett of Brodhead; brother and sister-in-law Jon (Margaret) Kauk of Albany; sister-in-law Katherine Kauk of Albany; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years David Alton Peterson in 2008, her parents, Phillip and Mary Kauk; grandson, Eric Willger; brother Richard; son-in-law, Richard Stluka; brother-in-law, Glen Pickett; step-father, Herbert Striker; and step-sister Margaret Striker.

Funeral services will be held at New Horizon United Methodist Church, Hwy 11 and Murphy Road at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, with Pastor Wendy Slaback officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Town of Center.

A visitation will be held at NEWCOMER-SILVERTHORN CHAPEL ON THE HILL, Hwy 11 and South Coon Island Road, Orfordville on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:000 a.m. until the time of service.

Kathryn's strength and grace is the foundation for each of us, and we are proud to call her Mom, Mother-in-law, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Sister, Aunt, but most importantly Friend.

Go in peace Mom - your work here is done. We will survive this ... you taught us well.

Enjoy the Dance. The family would like to thank AngelsGrace for their love and respect and the wonderful care they gave.
