M. Eileen Crotty, age 91 of Monroe, died on Tuesday April 15, 2014 at the Monroe Manor Nursing Home. She was born on March 10, 1923, in Gratiot, the daughter of Robert and Mae (Ayers) Eckerman. She married, Francis Crotty, June 26, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Gratiot. They farmed in the South Wayne area from 1947 until 1977. She worked at the Squeeze Inn before moving to Monroe in 1993. She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish and the Monroe Women of the Moose Chapter 599. Eileen enjoyed playing cards.

Eileen is survived by her daughter, Karen (Carl) Anderson of Monroe; grandsons, Robert Anderson, Westchester, IL, Eric (Pam) Anderson, Monroe; granddaughter, Heidi (Brett) Lucey, Madison, WI; great-grandchildren Carly Anderson, Brandi Anderson, Cameron Lucey, and Danielle Lucey; step-great-grandchildren, Hanna and Gunnar Euler; sister-in-law, Ethel Eckerman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and JoAnn Crotty, Art and Betty Blum, Joan and Ray Figi, Roy Figi, Polly and Bernard Whalen, Dorothy Meyers, Roger and Jean Zimmerman, and Jane Crotty; also several nieces and nephews.

Eileen is predeceased by her husband, Francis Crotty, her parents, sister and brother-in-law Margie (Ralph) Homb, brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Shirley) Eckerman, brother, Donald Eckerman, sister and brother-in-law, Anna Mae (Robert) Mc Donald, sister-in-law, Theresa Figi, brothers-in-law, John Crotty and Dale Meyers, and nephew, Kevin Crotty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Victor Church with Fr. Larry Bakke celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Gratiot. Visitation will be Sunday, from 4-7 p.m. at Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home. A memorial fund is being established in Eileen's memory.
