May 11, 1953-November 19, 2013
Lynn Fox passed away at the Frisco Hospital on November 19, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. Over the last 31 years Lynn was a resident of Colorado. She lived in the Denver front range, including Evergreen, Chaffee County, but mostly lived in Summit County, most recently in Frisco.
Lynn held positions with Keystone Ski Resort, Copper Mountain Ski Resort, Colorado Mountain College and most recently the US Forest Service Visitor's Center in Silverthorne.
Lynn was born in Monroe, WI where she also graduated high school. She received her BA from the University of Wisconsin and an MA from Southern Illinois University. She spent several months in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico getting certified to teach English as a Second Language. Lynn taught ESL in Summit County and at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Lynn will be most remembered for her smile, great attitude, and love of life. Everyone who met Lynn loved her and she usually developed some sort of long-term relationship with them. She loved nature and the outdoors spending much time hiking and XC skiing on the trails of Summit County.
Lynn enjoyed the warm beaches of Mexico and worked hard to learn Spanish so she could absorb a bit of the culture. She enjoyed the people and the local Mexican establishments and always looked for opportunities to practice her Spanish both in Mexico and back at home.
Lynn loved all animals, especially her dog Willow, who was her frequent companion on the hiking and XC trails. She made many friends along the trails with her dog.
Lynn was an avid photographer and many of her best times are shown in her photos.
Lynn is survived by her partner, friend, and husband Alan Stewart of Frisco; her mother, Gen Counselman, of Monroe, WI; her brother, Dean Counselman, of Monroe WI; two sisters, Jill Norton, of Stevens Point, WI and Beth Kramer of Baraboo, WI; 5 nieces and 9 grandnieces and grandnephews.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Summit County Humane Society or your favorite charity. A celebration of life will be held in Summit County early next summer and in her home town of Monroe, WI. She will be sorely missed.
