Lydia Rufenacht

Lydia Rufenacht, of Monroe, died on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the New Glarus Home. She was the daughter of Ralph and Reatha (Tyler) Greenwald. She was a 1935 graduate of Monroe High School. Lydia and Edwin Rufenacht were married on September 22, 1940 at St. John's United Church of Christ. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Church's ladies circles, Monroe Country Club, Monroe Woman's Club, Behring Senior Center, Green County Family YMCA, Monroe Arts Center, Monroe Questers, Alpine Curling Club, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Monroe Clinic Hospital Auxiliary, Women of the Moose Lodge 499 and former Cub Scout Leader.

Lydia is survived by her children, Barbara J. Jacobs of Eastman, David L. (Barbara) Rufenacht of Verona, William B. Rufenacht of Soldiers Grove; grandchildren, Cheryl Olson, Don Alston, Karen Rufenacht, Hans Rufenacht and a great grandchild, Hayden Lee Elmer. She is predeceased by her parents and husband Edwin in 1988.

Per family wishes, private family graveside services will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Lydia's memory. The Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
