Lucille Runkle, age 82 of Monroe, died on Monday, January 5, 2009 at her home. She was born on August 2, 1926, the daughter of Fred and Madeline (Pfisterer) Kubly. She attended Shanghai Country School and was a graduate of Brodhead High School. Lucille and Thomas Runkle Jr. were married on August 11, 1946 at Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello.

She was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, Zwingli Church Women's Guild, American Legion Auxiliary unit #84, and Monroe V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be forever in our hearts.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Runkle Jr. , Monroe; sons, Terry (Carol) Runkle, Knoxille, TN, Richard (Lori) Runkle, Monroe; brothers, Gordon (Dorothy) Kilday, Fitchburg, Robert (Shirley) Kubly, Monticello, Herbert Kubly, Spring Green; sisters, Dorothy Erickson, Monroe, Edith (Norman) Nall, Monroe; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents and one sister, Zelma Blumer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Lawrence Balleine officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. There will be an American Legion Auxiliary service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

A memorial fund is being established in Lucille's memory for Zwingli United Church of Christ.
