Monticello Police
On October 2:
● At approximately 7:00 a.m., Officers took a reported theft in the 100 block of N. Main Street. The offenders in the theft were identified. The investigation is ongoing.
Monroe Police
On October 4:
● At 9:25 p.m., officers arrested Eduardo B. Gomez, 20, Freeport, IL, following a traffic offense stop in the 800 block of 8th Street. Gomez was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-1st offense, was booked and released to a responsible person pending a court appearance.
Green County Sheriff
On October 2:
● At 7:01 p.m. deputies and BPD responded to the Town of Decatur for a disturbance. The investigation resulted in Shawn M. Anderson, 52, Brodhead, being arrested for Battery, Suffocation/strangulation, and false imprisonment. Additionally, Maggie M. Salzwedel, 37, of Brodhead was arrested for Misdemeanor bail jumping, and Disorderly conduct.
On October 3:
● At 9:13 p.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a speed violation in the W800 block of State Highway 59, in the Town of Albany. Investigation resulted in the driver, Walter H. Crawford, 63 of Albany being arrested for Violating Conditions of Bond. Crawford was also cited for Operating after Revocation. Crawford was incarcerated at the Green County Jail pending court.
On October 4:
● At approximately 9:25 p.m., Deputies responded to the N6700 block of County Highway J, Town of Adams, for a single vehicle, non-injury crash. The operator, Juan Hernandez, 22 of Ridgeway, was traveling north on County Highway J when he failed to negotiate a curve while avoiding a deer in the roadway. The vehicle traveled into a ditch, up an embankment and came to rest in a cornfield. Juan reported wearing his seatbelt and not being injured. The vehicle sustained disabling damage with no airbag deployment and was towed from the scene. Juan was issued citations for Failure to Maintain Control, Operating While Suspended, and Operating without Insurance.
● At approximately 4:02 a.m., Vance L. Tracy, 62 of Monroe, called to report he crashed his vehicle the previous night around 6:00 PM in the N5100 block of State Highway 59, Town of Albany. Injuries and seatbelt usage are unknown in the crash as an interview was unable to be conducted. The vehicle sustained disabling damage with airbag deployment and was towed from the scene. Vance was mailed citations for Failure to Report a Crash to Law Enforcement, Failure to Maintain Control and having Open Intoxicants in a Motor vehicle.
On October 6:
● At approximately 1:28 p.m., Deputies along with Brodhead FD, Brodhead EMS, Green County EMS, and Brodhead PD, responded to the intersection of STH 81 and CTH T, Town of Spring Grove, for a report of a two vehicle crash with unknown injuries. Invest-igations found that a vehicle operated by Sherry L Doudlah, 66, of Evansville, was southbound on CTH T when she entered the intersection and was struck by a vehicle operated by Russell J Mehring, 61, of Burlington, operating westbound. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, both sustained injuries, and both vehicles had airbag deployment. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
● At approximately 10:56 p.m., Deputies located a suspicious vehicle in the N3800 block of Park Rd, Town of Decatur. Investigations resulted in Andrew P Lundgren, 38, of Janesville being cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
Lafayette County Sheriff
On October 5:
● 6:12 a.m. Seth F. Luedtke, 42, Monroe reported striking a deer on STH 81, Darlington Township. No injuries were reported. Luedtke’s 2022 Dodge received minor damage and was driven from the scene.
● 8:57 p.m. Deputies responded to Mink Farm RD, Wayne Township to assist Monroe PD. As a result, Jacob D. Mott-Ubersox, 22, Monroe was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Domestic Battery, and False Imprisonment. Mott-Ubersox was transported to Monroe where custody was transferred to Monroe Police.
On October 6:
● 9:51 a.m. A deputy responded to E Main ST in the Village of Benton for a minor two vehicle accident. Scott L Wehnke, 45, Platteville was traveling eastbound in a 2015 Dodge when he rear ended a 2021 Chevrolet being operated by James M McGlynn, 74, Shullsburg. No injuries were reported and Wehnke’s vehicle was towed from the scene. Wehnke was cited for Inattentive Driving.
● 12:01 p.m. Deputies responded to Palfrey RD, New Diggings Township for a domestic dispute. Jeffrey M Wymore, 61, Shullsburg was arrested for Battery and Disorderly Conduct. Wymore was transported to the Lafayette County Jail where he was booked and later posted bond.
On October 7:
● 5:03 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH G, Belmont Township for a minor two vehicle accident.
● 8:16 p.m. A deputy responded to W Commerce ST in the Village of Belmont for a hit and run.
● 9:59 p.m. Sara J Wiegel, 42, Shullsburg reported striking a deer on Silverthorn RD, New Diggings Township. No injuries were reported and Wiegel’s 2021 GMC received severe damage and was towed from the scene.
