Monroe Police
On June 30:
● At 1:18 a.m., officers arrested Dayne T. Garwell, 18, Monroe, following a traffic offense stop in the 200 block of 14th Avenue. Garwell was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-1st offense, and was also cited for operating while suspended, possession of tetrahydrocannabinols (marijuana), and underage possession/consumption of alcohol. Garwell was booked and released to a responsible person pending a court appearance.
● At 8:26 a.m., officers arrested Matthew J. Buman, 51, Darlington, on an apprehension request from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections-Probation & Parole. Buman was also charged with resisting/obstructing an officer. Buman was confined in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.
● At 11:13 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of 21st Street for a report of a vehicle versus parked unoccupied vehicle accident. An investigation indicated that a westbound vehicle on 21st Street, operated by Eric C. Larse, 38, South Wayne, collided with a legally parked unoccupied vehicle. Larse was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-2nd offense. Larse was also cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle. Larse was released to a responsible person pending a court appearance.
Green County Sheriff
On July 1:
● At 4:58 p.m., deputies responded to the W8700 block of Wis. 11, in the Town of Cadiz, for a single vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Lexa C. Miller, 30 of Mount Horeb was traveling westbound when she lost control. The vehicle then entered the north ditch and collided with a sign post before coming to rest. Miller reported no injuries, was wearing her seatbelt, and the airbags did deploy. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Investigation resulted in Miller being cited for Operating While Under the Influence (1st) and for Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration. Miller was released to a responsible party pending court.
● At 5:45p.m., deputies responded to the W6100 block of County H, in the Town of New Glarus for the report of a disturbance. Investigation resulted in Kevin L. Hermanson, 55 of New Glarus being placed under arrest for Operating While Under the Influence (2nd). Hermanson was released to a responsible parting pending court. The New Glarus Police Department assisted at the scene.
● At 10:08 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a registration violation in the N3600 block of Race Road, in the Town of Decatur. Investigation resulted in the operator, Kelly R. Martin, 51 of Brodhead being placed under arrest for Operating While Under the Influence (1st). Martin was further cited for Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration. Martin was released to a responsible party pending court. The Brodhead Police Department assisted at the scene.
On July 4:
● At approximately 11:46 p.m., deputies assisted the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office with a male who reported being chased by other individuals with a knife and a firearm. The subject, Curtis J. Gerber, 39 of Monroe, was located and was alone. No subjects, or evidence of subjects, were located and there are not believed to be any armed subjects in the area. Further investigation resulted in Curtis being placed under arrest for two active warrants through Green County. Curtis was transported to the Green County Jail where he will be held.
On July 5:
● At 7:54 a.m., deputies responded to the N6200 block of Washington Road, in the Town of Washington for the report of a car versus deer crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Molly T. Leigh, 38 of Argyle was traveling north when a deer entered the roadway and collided with her vehicle. Leigh reported non-life-threatening injuries, was wearing her seatbelt, and the airbags had deployed. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Lafayette County Sheriff
On June 30:
● 12:22 p.m. A deputy responded to N Mound AV in the Village of Belmont for a minor two vehicle accident. A 2017 Cadillac was parked at the pumps when a 2003 Chrysler, driven by Mark G Moody, 75, Belmont, struck the vehicle. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were driven from the scene.
● 8:43 p.m. Belmont Fire and EMS responded to US 151, Belmont Township for a one vehicle accident. Eric S Stange, 53, San Jose, CA was traveling northbound on US 151 in a 2023 Nissan when he had a medical emergency, causing him to cross the median and into the southbound ditch where he came to rest. Stange was transported to the hospital and later transferred to Madison by UW Medflight. His vehicle was towed from the scene with severe damage.
Monticello Police
On June 25:
● At approximately 1:38 a.m., Officers responded to a vandalism complaint in the 400 block of N. Monroe Street. A theft was also reported with this incident. The incident is under investigation.
On June 29:
● At approximately 9:41 a.m., Officers responded to the 500 block of W. Coates Avenue for a report bail jumping incident. A short time after arriving at the residence, officers placed Bradley A. Miller, 33 of Monticello under arrest for bail jumping/violation of a court order. Miller was transported and incarcerated at the Green County Jail. The New Glarus Police Department responded and assisted. There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
