Green County Sheriff

On Jan. 27:

● At 1:47 p.m., Deputies responded to the 2800 block of 6th Street, in the City of Monroe to assist Probation and Parole agents. Investigation resulted in Kenin L. Stewart Sr. 38 of Monroe being arrested for a warrant through Green County. Stewart was incarcerated at the Green County Jail.

● At 4:06 p.m., Deputies responded to the W6500 block of Legler Valley Road, in the Town of New Glarus for a single vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Holly K. Flick, 18 of Belleville was traveling westbound. Flick then lost control of her vehicle due to the icy road conditions and collided with a guard rail. Flick reported no injuries, was wearing her seatbelt, and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

● At 4:22 p.m., Deputies responded to the N4300 block of State Highway 59, in the Town of Sylvester for a two-vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Dawn E. Walter, 45 of Monroe was traveling westbound when she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle then collided with an eastbound vehicle. Walter reported no injuries, was wearing her seatbelt, and the airbags did not deploy. Walter’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

● The eastbound vehicle was operated by Rachael M. Ruef, 32 of Brodhead. Rachael and her passengers reported no injuries, were wearing their seatbelts, and the airbags did not deploy. Ruef’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

On Jan. 29:

● At approximately 12:54 p.m., Deputies were notified of a single vehicle accident in the W9600 block of County Highway Y, Town of Jordan. Contact was made with the driver, Amelia K Burkhalter, 30, of South Wayne, who reported she was eastbound on County Highway Y when she lost control of her vehicle on the ice/snow covered roadway. Burkhalter’s vehicle entered the ditch. Burkhalter reported no injury, reported wearing her seatbelt, and no airbag deployment Burkhalter’s vehicle sustained functional damage and was driven from the scene.

● At approximately 7:27 p.m., Deputies along with Monticello PD and Monticello FD responded to the N5900 block of State Highway 69, Town of Mt Pleasant, for a single vehicle rollover accident. Investigations found that the driver, Sevillo S Garcia, 34, of Monroe, was southbound on State Highway 69 when he lost control of his vehicle on the ice/snow covered road. Garcia’s vehicle entered the West ditch and upon entering the ditch rolled. Garcia reported no injury, reported wearing his seatbelt, and no airbag deployment. Garcia’s vehicle was towed from the scene.

On Jan. 30:

● At approximately 10:20 a.m., Kelly A. Patton, 50 of Monroe, contacted the Green County Sheriff’s Office to advise that she was involved in a crash at approximately 4:30 AM on her way to work. Kelly advised that she lost control of her vehicle in the W9000 block of State Highway 11, Town of Cadiz, while traveling eastbound. The vehicle entered the north ditch and struck a mound of rocks. Kelly reported not wearing her seatbelt and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The vehicle had airbag deployment and was left in a nearby parking lot due to disabling damage. The vehicle will be towed from that lot at a later time. 

On Jan. 31:

● At approximately 10:10 a.m., Deputies responded to the Green County Probation and Parole Office and placed Jeremy L. Hartwig, 35 of Albany, under arrest for a Probation Hold through the Department of corrections. Jeremy was transported to the Green County Jail without incident.

● At approximately 5:31 p.m., Deputies responded to the N2300 block of Bloom Ln., Town of Monroe, for a report of a two vehicle crash with no injury. Investigation determined Zachary R. Ackerman, 29 of Monroe, was traveling south on Bloom Ln. when he lost control of his vehicle on the ice covered roadway. Zachary’s vehicle then collided with an unoccupied vehicle that was legally parked. Zachary reported wearing his seatbelt and not being injured. The vehicle sustained functional damage and was driven from the scene.

On Feb. 1:

● At 7:16 p.m., Deputies responded to the W3000 block of Main Street, in the Town of Jefferson, for a crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Matthew J. Bremer, 52 of Juda was backing eastbound when he collided with an unoccupied, parked vehicle. Bremer reported no injuries, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, and airbags did not deploy. Bremer’s vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. The parked vehicle sustained functional damage and the airbags did not deploy.

On Feb. 3:

● At approximately 7:33 p.m., Deputies, the Brooklyn Police Department, the Evansville Police Department, the Brooklyn Fire Department, and Brooklyn EMS responded to the N9200 block of STH 92, Town of Brooklyn, for a vehicle versus guardrail crash with injury. Investigation determined the operator, Michael J. Kersten, 43 of Brooklyn, was southbound on State Highway 104 when he believes he passed out. Michael’s vehicle drifted off to the west shoulder, striking a guardrail head on. Michael reported wearing his seatbelt and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Michael was transported by EMS for further evaluation. The vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front bumper with no airbag deployment and was towed from the scene.

On Feb. 8:

● At approximately 10:30 p.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the W1900 block of State Highway 11, Town of Spring Grove. Investigation resulted in the operator, Keith A. Jackson, 54 of Monroe, being cited for Operating After Revocation due to Alcohol. Keith was given a mandatory court date.

On Feb. 9:

● At approximately 9:12 a.m., Deputies responded to the N3100 Block of CTH N, Town of Monroe, for two vehicle crash with no injuries. Rickey L. Galbreth of Argyle was southbound on CTH N, when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow/slush covered roadway. Rickey’s vehicle slid across the roadway and entered the east ditch. At the same time, Stephanie J. Huber of Monroe was northbound, swerved to the right in an attempt to avoid Rickey’s vehicle, entered the east ditch, and the two vehicles collided. Neither Rickey or Stephanie were injured in the crash, no airbags deployed in either vehicle, and both were wearing their seatbelts. Rickey’s vehicle sustained minor damage to its front end and he was able to drive away from the scene. Stephanie’s vehicle sustained functional damage to its front driver side tire and front quarter panel. Stephanie’s vehicle was towed from the scene.

● At approximately 10:25 a.m., Deputies responded to the W4600 blk of STH 59, Sylvester Township, for a one vehicle accident. Investigation found that a vehicle operated by, Autumn M. Love Lopez, 31, of Monroe, was traveling east on STH 59.  Love Lopez advised a vehicle veered into her lane of travel and she moved over to avoid striking the vehicle.  Love Lopez advised her vehicle hits some slush due to the current weather conditions which pulled her vehicle into the ditch.  The vehicle struck a culvert and came to rest. Love Lopez, and passengers, advised they were not injured and were wearing their seatbelts.   There was no airbag deployment in the vehicle.  The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

● At approximately 1:18 p.m., Deputies received a report of a motor vehicle crash with no injuries in the W5600 Block of CTH H, Town of New Glarus. New Glarus Police Officers assisted the Sheriff’s Office. Morgan D. Thompson of New Glarus was westbound on CTH H, when she lost control of her vehicle on the snow/slush covered roadway. Morgan entered the north ditch and then struck a fence. Morgan was not injured, was wearing her seatbelt, and her vehicle’s airbags did not deploy. Morgan’s vehicle sustained functional damage to its front end. The vehicle was driven from the scene.

On Feb. 10:

● At 2:58 p.m., Deputies responded to the intersection of State Highway 81 and County Highway N, in the Town of Monroe, for a two-vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Robert L. Kaiser, 82 of Lena was traveling northbound on County Highway N. Kaiser failed to yield right away from a stop sign. Kaiser then collided with a vehicle traveling westbound on State Highway 81. Kaiser was not injured, was wearing his seatbelt, and the airbags did not deploy. Kaiser’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Kaiser was cited for fail to yield right of way from a stop sign. Kaiser was released pending court. The westbound vehicle was operated by Michael L. Richards, 37 of Janesville. Richards sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Richards was wearing his seatbelt and the airbags did deploy. Richards’ vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

The other vehicle was operated by Steven L. Graber, 60 of Monticello. Graber reported no injuries, was wearing his seatbelt, and the airbags did not deploy. Graber’s vehicle sustained functional damage and was driven from the scene.

● At 7:50 p.m., Deputies conducted a check welfare on a vehicle parked in the roadway in the W8100 block of State Highway 11, in the Town of Cadiz. Investigation resulted in the driver, Joel F. Tertin, 64 of Monroe being placed under arrest for Operating While Under the Influence (1st-Alcohol). Tertin was also cited for Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration. Tertin was later released to a responsible party pending court.

● At 2:13 p.m., Deputies responded to a residence in the N5500 block of Shea Lane, in the Town of Albany for a 911 misdial. Investigation resulted in Gina K. Allen, 51 of Albany being arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Battery (domestic related). Allen was released to a responsible party after posting bond.


Monroe Police

On Jan. 31:

● At approximately 7:04 p.m. Officers responded to the intersection of 19th Street and 16th Avenue for a two vehicle crash with no reported injuries. Investigation revealed Michael D. Kohl, 37,Monroe, was eastbound on 19th Street, when he failed to stop at the stop sign at 16th Avenue. Michael continued into the intersection where his vehicle collided with a southbound vehicle/ operated by Carrie L. Raisbeck, 51, Browntown. Both vehicles sustained damage and no airbags were deployed. Michael was cited for Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign and Non-   Registration of Auto. Michael was released pending court.

On Feb. 1:

● At approximately 2:56 p.m. Officers were notified of an incident that occurred in the 2700 block of State Highway 69. Investigation resulted in Trever L Martin, 29, Monroe being arrested for Disorderly Conduct (Domestic). The Wisconsin Department of Corrections was notified and Probation and Parole placed a hold on Trever. Trevor was held at the Green County Jail without bond.

On Feb. 3:

● 10:25 a.m., officers were called to a two-vehicle accident, with injuries, at 9th Street and 20th Avenue. An investigation indicated that a vehicle operated by Franldn Montenegro Lira ,33, South Beloit, IL, was eastbound on 9th Street, left the stop sign at 20th Avenue and collided with a southbound vehicle on 20th Avenue, operated by a 60-year-old Monroe woman. A passenger in the southbound vehicle was transported to the hospital by Green County EMS Montenegro Lira s vehicle sustained functional damage while the other vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed. Montenegro Lira was cited for operating without a valid driver’s license, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign and motor vehicle windows not being reasonably clean. Montenegro Lira was released pending a court appearance.

On Feb. 4:

● 3:02 a.m., officers arrested Dean T. Kasten, 23, Monroe, in the 1900 block of 8th Street, after an officer made contact with a running, occupied vehicle. Kasten was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-lst offense, and was also cited for operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration. Kasten was released to a responsible person pending a court appearance.

On Feb. 8:

● At approximately 7:58 p.m. officers responded to the intersection of 15th Street and 15th Avenue for a two vehicle crash with no reported injuries. Investigation revealed Leslie J. Pryce, 22, Brodhead was Southbound on 15th Avenue when she attempted to make a left turn onto 15th Street. While negotiating the turn Leslie struck an unoccupied legally parked vehicle owned by Beth M, Buntrock, 27, Monroe. Both vehicles sustained damage and were removed by the owners. Leslie was cited for Failure to Keep Vehicle Under Control and released pending court.

On Feb. 9:

● At approximately 1:22 a.m., Officers arrested Matthew P. Baumgartner, 31, Monroe, in the 1000 block of l7th Avenue. Matthew was taken to the Green County Jail, where he was held pending court on charges of Felony Bail Jumping, Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, and Possession of Cocaine.

On Feb. 11:

● 1:38 a.m., officers arrested Melinda D. Brown, 61, West Milton, OH, in the 600 block of 8th Street, for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-1st offense. Brown was confined in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.

● 10:14 a.m., officers were called to a vehicle versus a light pole accident, with no reported injuries, in the 3000 block of STH 69. The investigation indicated that a vehicle operated by Jon T. Craigo, 58, Monroe, was northbound on STH 69, when Craigo’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a light pole in the median- knocking the light pole down. There was functional damage to Craigo’s vehicle and disabling damage to the light pole. Craigo was cited for inattentive driving, and was released pending a court appearance.
