Lillian M. Sandlin age 75 of Monticello, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital surrounded by her family. Lillian was born April 3, 1939 in Brodhead, the daughter of Otto and Bessie (Kuhl) Maass. She graduated from Albany High School in 1957 and married Eugene Sandlin on February 8, 1958 in Brodhead. Following their marriage, Lillian and Eugene farmed in the rural Albany area for 35 years. Lillian worked for Monroe Cheese Corp in Monticello for 19 years and as a Tupperware hostess for 20 years. She loved walking her dog, Toby, and enjoyed gambling trips to Dubuque.

She is survived by four sons, Jim (LuAnn) Sandlin of Monticello, John Sandlin of Monticello, Joe (Dianne) Sandlin of Brodhead, and Jeremy (Jodi) Sandlin of Dixon, IL; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy (Jud) Spooner of Evansville; and a brother, Donald (Judy) Maass of Door County. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene, on July 15, 1985; and her loyal dog, Toby.

A visitation for Lillian will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Voegeli-Newcomer Funeral Home, 360 S. Garfield St., Monticello. Graveside services will be on Friday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating.
