LENA - Letha Fern Leverton 95, of Lena passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Freeport Rehabilitation Nursing Center, surrounded by her family. Letha was born on October 24, 1919 in Winslow, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Phebe (Reck) Wales. She was a 1937 graduate of Winslow High School and subsequently worked in Freeport until her marriage to Robert (Bob) Leverton on February 19, 1948. They resided on the family farm outside of McConnell and raised seven children, giving them the perfect childhood. Bob preceded Letha in death in 1972 and at that time she moved to Lena, IL. Once all of her children were in school Letha worked at Heine Plastics in Cedarville, IL and later Advance Transformer in Monroe, WI. In later years she retired from Economy Insurance Company in Freeport, IL. She was active in the McConnell Ladies Home Extension for many years and was a member of the Lena United Methodist Church. Letha instilled in her children love of family, sound values, good work ethics, life skills and a love for reading.

She is survived by her seven children, Linda (Jack) Ritter of Normal, IL, Barb (Bill) Siegenthaler, of Monroe, WI, Robert (Diane) Leverton of Lena, IL, Rich (Deb) Leverton of Lena, IL, Sue Gerloff of Winslow, IL, Bev (Steve) Young of Dixon, IL and Dianne (Lenny) Reynolds of Rochelle, IL, one sister Dorothy Seuring of Baileyville, IL, and one sister-in-law Betty Leverton of McConnell, IL. 23 Grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert and one great-granddaughter, Cameron Siegenthaler, her son-in-law Carson Gerloff and two brothers, Ralph and Robert Wales and her sister Lois Meighan.

She will be missed by many "...and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

The family would like to thank Dr. Barbara Gerbick, and the staff at Monroe Clinic Hospital, FHN Hospital, Heritage Woods, and Freeport Rehabilitation Nursing Center and FHN Hospice for their loving care and attention to Letha.

Services: 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 20, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena.

Pastor Fred Woodruff will officiate at the services.

Burial will be at Silent Hill Cemetery in McConnell, IL.

A luncheon will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church following the burial on Saturday.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
