LeRoy K. Baum

LeRoy K. Baum, 71, of rural Cedarville, died Sunday, March 28, 2010, in his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born March 24, 1939 in Lanark, Illinois, the son of Emerson L. and Gladys O. (Hines) Baum.

LeRoy married Betty Meighan on September 15, 1961 in Freeport.

Mr. Baum was employed by Micro Switch Honeywell for 42 years. He then was employed by Orangeville School District as Transportation Director.

LeRoy was active in Boy Scouts. He was a Eagle Scout and a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 4. He enjoyed helping and spending time with Orangeville grade school and high school students.

Mr. Baum is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, Jeff (Dara) Baum of Rapids City, South Dakota and Doug (Stefanie) Baum of Juda, Wisconsin; his daughter, Denise (Tom) Scudder of Orangeville; his sister, Shirley (Dwayne) Dubois of Phoenix, Arizona; and his grandchildren, Megan and Kallie, Alexandra, Derrick, Nicholas, Mackenzie and Natalee, Heather and Ashton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws.

Funeral service for Mr. Baum will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 N. Walnut Ave., Freeport. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home.

Entombment will be in Oakland Mausoleum, Freeport.

A memorial has been established in his name.
